A lot of rumblings around the web regarding Paris Ford's commitment. Does anyone know anything (w/o giving insider info)? It could just be a case of the kid committing early and wanting to enjoy some of the perks of being recruited. H2P

i dunno. don't forget about loe either, he's got a wondering eye. we've offered about 160 kids so far(taken from another poster). no need to panic but it could be better.

in the end, i think ford will stick.

Where have these rumblings come from? He seems to be the biggest Pitt fan thus far. He just recently was the first to sign the commitment football and had pictures of it on Twitter.

-Penn State fans are my guess followed by Notre Dame fans and closet dumbass Pitt fans and media.

-When Ford walks, believe it when you see it. Until then, it is a bunch of nonsense.

Players should be allowed to sign LOIs on July 1, the first day of the new calendar year school year. It would eliminate all this nonsense and greatly reduce the time and money spent on recruiting and re-recruiting. If you are sure that's where you want to go, sign early. If not, wait.

Agree other than the ESPN hype machine who loses by an early signing? No one... So why should anyone care?

Ford has been pushing Pitt forever and has been recently as well. He may take visits and just enjoy the process, but I'd honestly be shocked if he didn't end up at Pitt.

That's too early, IMHO. A lot can happen in the fall....coach fired, injuries, etc. I'd make October an early signing month, that takes kids unsigned through the season, late coaching & roster changes.
A side benefit is that we'd have longer to "discuss" uniforms, beer, social media prowess, logos, campus stadiums and soccer. Clear all those up by 10/1.

Then wait to sign. Dont sign on July 1. There should be no "signing period." When the fiscal school year turns to July 1 and you become a senior, you should be able to sign an LOI whenever you want. It also benefits the player to put a definitive end to the process.

I read on the that Urban Meyer was going to leave OSU to coach PSU.
Thus, it must be true.

I think a specific early signing period is OK. Tough to have staff recruiting in-season. July just seems too early. And an open season 365 means incredible stress on staff & budgets. It also might mean the end of "no-contact" periods. Sounds great from a standpoint of kids committing whenever, but tough to manage. One month in the fall, Feb until whenever in the spring.

Ahhh...the beauty of Penn State fans getting worried about Pitt. I highly doubt Loe or Ford decommit. Most of the time these "rumblings" are started by one or a series of bitter rivals just to stir the pot. Loe was offered by Louisville not long ago but doubt he flips. Ford has been a great ambassador for Pitt recruiting and he'll stick as well.

If players choose to flip, it's either because they are pressured by a family member or they are brainwashed to thinking a bigger program is better.

Any defensive recruit that looks at PSU or WVU needs their head examined. Narduzzi is a defensive genius and it will show soon.

Would be nice to get more commitments for this class to solidify the recruitments we already have. No recruit wants to be part of a weak class. The longer we go the more that perception could look likely.

Connections- I understand that each player is their own individual however I have to admit that it is pretty disappointing when those player connections don't pay off.

Example 1- the PCC kids. We got the three top recruits from this years PCC state championship team and it would seem like they probably had a tight locker room. That didn't help us with Thorpe, Hinish, or Adams. One would surmise that they would want to play together but the juniors all committed elsewhere. Wonder what it is like in the halls, the seniors must feel shafted by the juniors.

Example 2- the Clairton connection. Why doesn't wade commit? His bro Matthews is at Pitt and clairton legend Boyd just went pro.

Example 3- Pine Richland. Jurkovic liked ND so much that he committed a year early. Doesn't Dinucci have any impact on his selection as a previous teammate?

It is frustrating to say the least.

It is May! Relax, we will bring in a solid class. Add the #1 TE in the country to the solid commits we have right now and compare to other teams classes so far. We will be fine!
