When was the last time a Pitt player was top 5 in a NBA Mock Draft in November?

Nbadraft.net is no joke. It’s about as legit a mock draft site as there is, and Bub is going 4th to the Spurs, this year.

Wow.

Also, it really shouldn’t be that surprising. His game just screams pro, he’s everything they want in a PG. can shoot. Long. Good handle.

And look, who knows where this goes, but that is serious, serious praise right now.

I know I just said it in the other post but how does the narrative on Pitt’s backcourt go from one of the “worst in the country” according to many preseason “experts,” to having the top mocked college player in the nation in a matter of 3 OOC games?

I was one who said I worried about our backcourt because they were freshmen but certainly not "worst in the nation." After 1 scrimmage and 1 exhibition, I said Carrington could be ACC All-frosh. Basketball talent is pretty easy to pick out. Now Top 5 NBA Draft? I didn't think that.

Yeah but we all saw what happened in league play with the Cuse all-everything frosh last year. Still had a pro game but lacking maturity. Bub‘s projection may or may not take a hit when facing Acc coaches/talent. We’ll see. Not sure how that works with the draft. Can’t believe anyone has seen enough of Bub.

That is unreal. 4th pick. That’s a huge projection this early. I want to see what he does against better teams. I think he needs to show he can keep his assist total very high with double figure scoring and about a 40 percent three point percentage to be top 5. That’s elite.

Do we have receipts for this? I’d like to monitor the potential ignorance of said “experts”.

I really tend to agree with you on this!!
Why not? If he goes that high it will mean he stays healthy and likely leads Pitt to at least sweet 16. It’s a reflection and reality that he can be very very good. This is the new reality. Players will not be here 4 years anymore either due to transferring or talent.

I was referring more to the notion about enjoying him instead of worrying about him leaving.

John Hugley says hello. You can stop saying basketball talent is easy to pick out. You’re the worst picker

Well whatever, I'll watch him play and hope he improves each game to take us to the National Championship.. starts with belief and Blake has that , and Bub has the talent.

I never like these threads....about a player leaving us.
Especially after 3 damn games..
Can we just enjoy the player for a minute ?
I guess you’re a glass half empty guy thinking this thread is about a guy leaving us.

I’m more a glass full guy, this thread is about a promising season in front of us thanks in part to having a true freshman perceived by some to be ‘4th pick in the NBA draft’ level good.

And of course, there’s a lot of other things to like about this team so far as well. Looking forward to seeing how they do against this upcoming slate of P5 opponents.

Before we all start throwing the draft party, is Carrington even a Top 60 on any other mock draft? Don’t get me wrong, he just looks different than any other Pitt guard I remember, but I haven’t seen him listed anywhere else, even on mocks that have been updated this week.
