Just waiting for something bad to happen and they'll be out in droves.
A PITT game like we just watched against VT sends them scrabbling to their ratholes.
Using their favorite works bad, not good, etc.

Many are plucking feathers off their crows preparing for dinner...especially the haters of the senior OL who are still improving in week 10. Sure they should pick up pass rushes a bit better but they have an identity that Borberly helped to instill. And we shouldn't fret next year's OL in August because they'll be coached up as I'm sure they are now just waiting their turn next year.

We played great. We are 6-4. I think you may want to wait a few games before thumping your chest too much. By the way I would love you right now to put out there what you believe our final record will be and bowl game. Since you are so sure of everything.

I've stated several times that we run like we do more out of desperation than andt kind of brilliant design (because we don't pass well); and that as a result we should be a relatively simple offense to curtail. It is working, but shouldn't be. I'm happy it is, but it's more on the inadequacy of opponents DC and overall softness in defenses today, due to proliferation of fruity spread offenses.

I'll keep taking that every week, if the opponent keeps giving it up; I had a blast last night, as i posted, i never saw anything like it in 35 years watching sports seriously. I wasn't waiting for the shoe to fall. But i'm not attributing success to Pitt being a sleeping giant that just awoke, and each week I expect the opponent will have finally watched our game videos and realize what we're doing.

That may not be exactly "our glass is half empty" more than "Pitt is poking a hole in the glass of teams that should have fuller glasses than ours". Or something.

I’m one of those guys that turned on Narduzzi after the UNC game. After watching Pitt get destroyed by PSU, the UNC game was more than I could take.

I am pleased that Pitt is playing better. However, let’s not put the cart before the horse. All Pitt has accomplished so far this year is becoming bowl eligible. Not a huge accomplishment in year 4.

I think we have an excellent chance to finish the regular season at 8-4, but we could also finish 6-6, and go on to lose the conference game and the bowl game and finish 6-8...

Well here I am, and it looks like many others.

I was very pro PN the first two seasons, but I became super concerned after the PSU game because Pitt looked AWFUL. I mean one of the worst teams in history bad. They even screwed up the coin toss. How freaking bad or poorly coached are players to screw that part up? Our team and coaching staff, even our fans, were basically violently raped by PSU to meek to put up any resistance to it.

Anyway, UNC just supported it, and I think some people now forget how bad our secondary was, and that we never scored in the 2nd half for the earlier part of the season. That is all on PN. I wasn't for firing him at the end of the season, but I was moved into the camp that if his next season was the same , then he is not better than Walt or Wanny so he should go.

Things are definitely better now, being 6-4 and losing two more games or even one, does not make this program appear to be progressing in year 3.

Is that negative enough for you so you know where all the haters/empty glasses/pessimists/etc are, or do I have to do better :)

Exactly. I'm pleased with being bowl eligible when that appeared DOA a month ago. Credit him for fighting to get out of the hole, but you can't forget the hole itself, either. There's still business to take care of before fitting Narduzzi for COTY crown. Apparently the mainstream agree; see the thread on Pitt not being ranked in any poll, and ranked below 3 teams we've beaten.

If you’re going to talk about get destroyed early in the season, then give pitt credit for beating ranked teams and absolutely crushing them in line play. Those teams know we’re going to run, put 8 or 9 guys within 6 yards of the line, and we are still manhandling them and breaking records on offense. OL job is to take another large man and move him from point A to point B against his will. We are doing that to 6 large men on every play. Teams have been unable to defend us. Good teams.

If you guys want to stay cautious or miserable and focus on the losses, you’re missing all the fun. Hop on and enjoy the ride! We’re about to make Pitt history and you’re too critical and miserable to enjoy it.

And I have to ask. What kind of fans sit there and wait for a mistake or a loss so they can jump all over their own team?

What Pitt history are we going to make? First team to potentially finish 6-8?

Good post. You should do the same, rocky. Put your $ where your mouth is... what do YOU think Pitt's final record will be?

I think it’ fair to say that these costal teams Pitt has been beating are rather mediocre.

Regardless, it is beautiful to see these Pitt players build chemistry and keep getting better as a team. Everyone seems to have uped their game to the point where they look good enough now to compete (and win) against just about anyone.

Kenny is throwing better passes and running better. Can’t be more proud of Q and Hall and the O-line and big George. French is a legit threat. Kessman may be the best kicker in the country. And the light bulb has finally gone on for Hendrix.

So... bravo to the Pitt coaches and team. Let’s keep this going... win the Coastal and then take down Clemson in the ACC Championship game.

I think everyone was a pessimist after UNC, except maybe a couple posters.

If everyone that was a pessimist after our start wasn’t posting, there would be about 5 posters left.

I am glad I was wrong, and glad that we aren’t going to go 4-8 like I thought.

Gotta love Pitt fans. Prior to the stretch of wins all you heard was how good Duke was how Bronco had UVA straightened out how the cuse was going to kill Pitt etc etc. then Pitt beats them all and they are all mediocre

And they wonder why the program gets no respect and coaches can’t recruit Hell half the fan base doesn’t give them respect and actually are more excited after a losss. Self loathing YINZERS is a apt decription

They are going to close out the Coastal Saturday.
Everyone one had reason to question things after PSU.
But, what we are seeing now is a team that is on a roll, they are confident and together.

I can see where decades of Pitt being Pitt, people might be understandibly gun shy.
But, this team is special.
At the very least win the Coastal special.

Lets just hope our guys can do a job on Wake this week. They may be one of the most under rated teams we will play this year. This is our best shot to make it to the ccg. Hate to have it come down to the final game of the season , on the road.

I was always pro PN but after UNC I lost the faith. I am now in limbo. I see that he is finally adjusting his style and it is paying dividends on the field, but we have a ways to go before I feel comfortable with the direction this is going.

[QUOTE="McKee Place, post: 2486149, member: 57398" overall softness in defenses today, due to proliferation of fruity spread offenses.

.[/QUOTE]

Exactly. That is why I said and continue to say that Power football is a good offense to have today. Most defenses today cannot handle 4 quarters of an offense running right at them. There are very few Raymond Ramon's and Scott McKillop's out there let a lone Dick Butkus and Ronnie Lott's. Defenders today are build to stop/slow the pass than the run. So run right at them. If Pitt would have done that more against PSU they win that game. PSU never stopped our power running game that day, Pitt/Watson did by abandoning it.

I guess I'm one of the ones you're picking at. I got clobbered after week #1 for saying the Coastal is garbage and if Pitt was ever going to win the division, this is the best year to do it. It was decided that I was being ridiculous. But here they are.

Pitt was blown out by the fourth best team in the B1G East, blown out by an O5 team who has beaten nobody, and lost to the worst team in the ACC. The incoming recruiting class is weak and would need nothing short of a miracle to finish in the 30's. They need a major collapse to lose the division (Pitting on a grand scale) but aren't ranked. Go easy on the "I told you so" victory lap. There are plenty of reasons to be pleased with the results but concerned at the same time.

The reality is there is a faction of Pitt fans who are just miserable and seem to just prefer to be negative. It seems they are disappointed to be wrong and seeing Pitt turning the corner.

I was pissed early in the season and don't think Narduzzi is Nick Saban or even close. But you have to enjoy this run or you are just miserable.

A board dominated by "RutgersAl's" is what you want?
Nothing wrong with criticizing poor performance and effort, especially by those paid millions.
Also nothing wrong with changing your mind when you see good performance and effort.

Fans perceptions evolve with the team's performance, good or bad. That is not an unnatural phenomenon nor is it a Pitt thing.

I’m here. Though IMO the scales started to tip in the second half ot the UVA game. This is an extremely confident team.
This ALL started in the Syracuse game. They went down early 14-0, then came back to tie it up on the fumble return for a TD. The team changed. Then, later in the game when our passing wasnt working and we went Wildcat against Syracuse's "vaunted" Dline -- our OL beat up their DL, our RBs were fighting for evrey yard, then our D comes up with they pick for the W -- the switch flipped!

Up until that point they were only close to making big plays at opportune times. You heard it from Coach Narduzzi in his postgame pressers -- "we didn't make plays when we needed to." This game .... there was many .... the long TD run by Ollison, fumble return for TD to tie game earlt, 50+ yd FGs, OL blocking for two 100yd rushers, D coming up with big pressure to force INT to win the game. The most important part was were players were coming over to Pickett and reassuring him that they had the game for him. There was a TON of pressure on the young kid, and this let him decompress a bit. And the OL pulling together allowed Watson some other options as well.

This is a good assessment, imo.

Huge opportunities ahead. I'm excited to see what the Panthers make out of it.

It’s one thing to be critical and another to be overly negative. While many fan bases can be critical very few go out of there way to bash the program players and coaches like Pitt

Example is how everyone said how every team is better than Pitt and that they would lose every game. Now after Pitt beats them those teams are garbage. Seems a bit inconsistent. How about giving the coaches and players credit. Everyone Harper in the defense and how predictable it was. Now that they are playing aggressive and mixing things up not a peep

The other thing I find hilarious is that the same fans who say Pitt is a steeping stone and no P5 coach would ever take this job slam Pitt for not being a P5 coach. They said the same thing about the hops program and I think this admin has shown they can hire pretty good coaches

I don’t know about you all but this season has become very enjoyable. Enjoy the ride. Pitt has not been in this position very often

I'll tell you how I feel, I wasn't going to say it, but because of HISTORY and what TYPICALLY happens with Pitt, I'm sitting here with a sick feeling that they'll lose the last two and not make the title game, anyone with a brain, cannot not at least be scared inside that this could happen, because no matter how good the last several games have been, this is still Pitt. and nobody has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with the frequency and spectacular manner that Pitt has.

DON'T GET MAD, I'm just being honest with what I am feeling.

"Everybody" didn't say anything, and the defense WAS predictable, predictably BAD!
Your post is as ridiculous as those you criticize.
The team is on a winning streak, that is good and I'm sure all Pitt fans, including me are enjoying the positive vibe for once. However, to say this was some sort of inevitable occurrence based on ANYTHING the team showed on offense or defense in the first 6 games is ridiculous.
Remember, a broken clock is right twice a day. Hopefully, the program is on solid footing, has it all figured out, and will never look back. Time will tell, but to crow like a banty rooster when the team achieves a .500 record at 6-6 in year 4 of the Nardawg era is just as disingenuous as burying them for the same feat.
Not sure what your point was in your second illegible paragraph, but I assume it was the same kind of childish scolding.
Take your own advice and enjoy the ride. Others will as well, and perhaps a few others still aren't sold yet. As long as they all still care, it's all good.

Personally, I hate pansy, little girly cheerleaders with rose colored glasses, I enjoy hitting them hard until after they accomplish something. too much precedent the last 30 years to be totally confident that they won't screw it up.

NOBODY prefers negative, but I hate positive, just to be positive without serious evidence backing it up.
I would agree that there is still the chance to blow this and if anybody can it is Pitt. But I have to question why some people follow Pitt when they just seem to get no enjoyment out of it and make it a sport to trash people that get slightly optimistic.

I get enjoyment out of it either way. I enjoy a big win, and I also enjoy brutally ripping them when the screw up, Ripping them when they suck makes me feel GOOD, not bad.

And to be honest, discussing the possibility of so called "Pitting" is totally reasonable. I don't follow other college sports programs closely, but I'd be amazed if there was any other that totally collapsed in the biggest situations on the big stages, when they looked to have it done, than Pitt the last 30 years.

Coastal is bad, Pitt lost to UNC, Pitt collapsed the 2nd half of PSU game....

How many teams have wins stacked against powerhouse schedules?
How many teams don't have a wtf loss?
Fuente is killing Pitt on the recruiting trail, how will Pitt compete?
S&P+ says blah, blah, blah...

None of that matters at this point. Get over it and enjoy the season.
