Where did "Zoo" name come from?

Anyone know where the name Oakland Zoo originated from? Just curious. Thanks

jimmoyer, don't know if you are from Pittsburgh but along with that link , Pittsburgh is a city of neighborhoods and the Pittsburgh Zoo is located in Highland Park about one neighborhood removed from Oakland and is often referred to as "The Highland Park Zoo" and so the need to identify to which Zoo one is referring, hence The Oakland Zoo.
