Watson is getting snaps over James today. I don't understand that one bit. Bell isn't running with purpose. I'd love to see some Touches for Conner.

PS looks like the team was more worried about the anthem than the Bears. They need to wake up in the 2nd half.

Tomlin's ego is too big to put Conner in spots where he'd succeed. F him.
Yeah, who cares what that Super Bowl winning, 5 time division champion, 7 time 10-game winner in 10 seasons, highest winning percentage in Steeler's history coach thinks about the player? We'd rather hear the opinion of Poster McDipshit about who should be carrying the ball.

Triggered.

Bell just had his first good run there.

Dropping passes, missing blocks. He is certainly rusty, then again he isnt used to playing this early in the year, as he is normally suspended

Another flat performance against a bad team. Bears will be fortunate to win another 2-3 games all season.

You're right. They should keep doing what they did today. Tomlin's infallible.

Special teams cost them 13 points. That's your ballgame. Catch the damn punt, and block on the fg attempt, and it's an ugly 20-7 win. Cohen is what the Steelers were hoping Dri Archer would be. He looks like the next Darren Sproles.

You're right, 1 game totally invalidates 10 years of performance. Let's play a game, requires 4 years of Head Coach experience to be considered.

How many active coaches have won a Super Bowl? A=6
How many active coaches have been to more than one Super Bowl?A=4
How many active coaches have three straight 10+ win seasons?A=4
How many active coaches have won their division 5 times in the last 10 years? A= 3
How many active coaches have never had a losing season? A=2
Who is the only NFL coach that fits all of these categories? A=Mike Tomlin

So that last one is a little unfair because it weeds out Belichick and McCarthy, but at worst Tomlin's accomplishments give him the 3rd or 4th best resume in professional football. Obviously behind Belichick and probably McCarthy, but easily comparable with Carroll. After those 4 there is a big drop off.

I didn't say he was a bad coach but I'm not willing to put him on a a pedestal either.

I hope I'm wrong about this - but after 3 games, I'm afraid I may be right. I have suspected since the AFC championship game that NE had provided a blueprint to the rest of the league on how to defend against Bell. If I was on the Steeler schedule I'd have studied that game tape as often as possible and copied their approach to gap control, not over pursuing, staying in your lane, trusting everyone else to be where they were supposed to be. We'll see how the rest of the season develops.

I think they are leaning on/ forcing Bell a little too much. They have great WR and should be a little more creative with them. They also aren't getting much from the TE.

Connor is the number 2 RB. But Watson is the short yardage specialist. Bell hasn't come out much in three games so Connor isn't getting carries.

Short yardage situations are right in JC's wheelhouse. I want to see him get those shots. I'm not impressed with Watson at all.

On a side note, Tyler Boyd had another 1 reception for 11 yards performance today vs Green Bay.

The Steelers drafted Conner because it was good PR for them, not to give him lots of carries.
To a degree. But the amount of thought and calculations they put into these guys is out of this world. Conner is a back who could replace bell soon at a much cheaper price. They're going to run the wheels off bell, then they don't really care if he leaves. At which point they can insert a James Conner that had a year or two of NFL practices without ever really suffering the wear and tear of games.

James ain't great on special teams. They were worried about the Bears return game. So perhaps they inactivated him?
hmm, muffed punt that led to a score and a blocked field goal that led to three (should have been 7 had the dude not begun his Dancing With the Stars audition early). Looks like they got their special team ducks lined up beautifully....

I thought boyd would have been a good #2 in this league, especially with Green on the other side.. I also assumed Conner was perfect fit for steelers and was going to get about 5-7 carries a game..

Probably why I stink at fantasy football so much.

WTF? Why would Tomlin not want Conner to succeed? Is he anti-Pitt too? The paranoia runs deep,

Tomlin has pulled this sort of stunt before. Not so much to keep Conner from succeeding but to keep Bell from looking like he's washed up. My guess is that they think Bell is still getting into "game shape" and they don't want to incite a controversy.

That does not enrich him with infallibility.

LOL, I disagree. I do think all of them are getting into game shape, and I would like to see Conner more, he had one great 9 yard carry last week, but I doubt he is sitting out to keep Bell from looking bad.

I am only going by the public shot that Tomlin directed at JC in the preseason. Whether JC is better or worse on special teams than others in actuality really isn't important if the HC thinks he's poor at them.

yeah I know, I was just going irony there ...

I know it sounds crazy but Tomlin does some strange stuff sometimes. His edge guys were getting killed yesterday but he never rotated Harrison into the game either.
