We hear about it all the time, but for those of us who aren't on Twitter, could somebody explain what and who the 412Crew is? Was it a 7 on 7 team? Who considers themselves "412Crew?"

Pittsburgh is in the 412 area code. The 412 crew refers to anyone from the 412 and/or that joins pitt
i assumed it was all of the WPIAL players, no?
I think it's a way to market and appeal to the kids. Being part of a "crew" is referred to a lot on Twitter. Going to guess any kid that plays at Pitt will adopt the #412crew but hometown kids in particular.
I thought whoever came up with "#412Crew" stumbled upon some marketing gold. Are #412 Crew TShirts available yet -- kids have been asking about them....

Seriously, it would be a smart idea. If Pitt didn't, the guy who sets up on the corner of Bigelow and Forbes should have some made up.
OK, so Pitt made it up? And some of the local players just retweet it or hashtag it or whatever they do on Twitter? I thought it was a group of 5-10 prospects who made it up. Guess not.
People got it mixed up with the evolve team, that is rumored to want to play together at the next level.

from what i gather 412 crew started on twitter as a reference to hamlin and his evolve teammates and how they should come to pitt and then was quickly co-opted by narduzzi and co. as a reference to playing for pitt in general. there was a week or two i remember that #412Crew was going around but it was just fans using it then you started seeing narduzzi and the staff tweeting it as well.

yeah, unrivaled because they don't beat anybody who is anybody in the big ten and they didn't want to play - for 15 years - the team that actually is their rival. that's some unrivaled program for ya.

Honestly, Pitt should "buy" Wiz and Mac's "fanhood." Pay them $100K per year (is that enough, too much?) to show up at some Pitt football and basketball games,maybe even write a song about Pitt that can be played at the games, etc. Each time they're there, the cameras will show them and recruits will love it!
Because anyone who has grown up in Pittsburgh is proud of it. Staff is trying to make Pitt football part of something bigger and it scares the crap out of Franklin and company. Maybe not right now but why else would the Dominator even bother to acknowledge such a lowly program?
Why does Narduzzi bother to acknowledge PSU? The 412 crew probably a twiiter thing. Lots of high school kids display thier area code on twitter for some reason.
Virginia Tech used to advertise "the 757" quite a bit, with many players coming from the Hampton Roads area. Using an area code hash tag is nothing new.
The 412 Crew is Pitt themselves. Come join Pitt, the 412 Crew. It seems this is was thought to be a certain small group of prospects but it is actually the Pitt team, I'm told
