Planning to go with my two adult daughters and gf, although it isn't clear how much the daughters will want to hang with their old dad. It's been a looooong time since I have been to a game up there, but I figured it will be a looooong time until I go to another. Any thoughts, tips, plans, events, recommendations? I'm down with partying, but not too anxious to walk great distances at my advanced age, if I can help it. Cheers!

I think you can park at the mall or something and shuttle in if you don't want to walk.

Parking has change this year. The cash lots are a long walk to the stadium. So if you want to tailgate purchase a pass for a number lot. If not there are several shuttle lots that you can park at. Another option is park in one of the downtown parking garage and take the free campus loop shuttle which drops you off close to the stadium.

Wife and I are going as guests of my brother (PSU grad)) and it is always fun to tailgate with them. We reciprocate at Heinz. Thanks for the map 21Guns.

I wasnt up there in forever but I was amazed when I went 2 years ago that the stadium is literally in the middle of hundreds of acres of open fields/farmland. It's a very odd, unique setting. It looked like if you plopped down a 100K stadium built out of legos in some Fayette County field.

It's a really ugly stadium also. But man, it really sticks out compared with its surroundings.

My group will be there and bought single game parking pass to lot #36. Lots #36 and #11 were the only options on their website for single game passes. $25 advance purchase; $60 game day for same lots.

I heard there's a Dairy Queen, or something, that is supposed to have good ice cream.

Been there a bunch of times... not this year because it’s a crappy noon game... have to leave in the middle of the night to get there.

What an abysmal place to suffer on a hot fall afternoon! And, no subway to get me back to town to relax in a nice cool tavern!

A friend of mine is a PSU alum and long time season ticket holder. He claims the best Italian restaurant in State College is a place called Sbarro. He says make reservations now because there is a long waiting list.

Long lines are the order of the day on a football weekend.

The Peachy Paterno at the Berkey Creamery is overrated and I'd definitely stay away from the Creamy Sandusky....

One of my fave brew pubs in the state with an excellent menu & lots of local and or organic choices.

And while this place is a bit of a drive, may be my fave Brewpub in the state. 2 of the top ten dinners I've ever had were there. Saw a couple outstanding bands there too.

Oh and their Copper Ale is not to be missed.
organic choices? In reference to a football gameday menu item? Lord help us as we become of nation of men that sit down to pee...

I am going with my pitt frat brothers. We are unsure yet if we will be doing any trolling before the game but you better believe after upsetting the nitters we will be doing our fair share of celebrating. Cant wait.

We have good friends who are big PSU boosters and really, really want us to join them for the game.

UGH - it's not like I have a problem with going to the game at Beaver Stadium but what I can't stand is that HV is so small and insulated with all PSU fans. There is no where to escape the Cult.

At least Pittsburgh is a real city with plenty of options that don't completely revolve around PITT. It's possible to have a normal weekend for a visiting fan.

That's one of the problems for Pitt fans on Saturdays. We're a big booming city with so much to do on a September/October Saturday: downtown, Oakland, Lawrenceville, south side, north shore, station square, restaurants anywhere you look, operas, pirates, penguins, plays. I'm not even trying to sound cynical but wtf is there in central PA besides farms, hills and cows? Give me a big city like the burgh over that any day of the week.

You've obviously never stood around a 16 gallon keg with 30 of your closest under age friends in the middle of a hay field watching for headlights and hoping it's not a cop. It doesn't get more exciting that that....

Just had lunch at Otto's yesterday.

Their drafts are heavy on the IPAs, which I am not real big on.

I much prefer Elk Creek's drafts.

Food is a plus at either place.

If you aren't tail gating, strongly consider using the shuttles.

They were $2 per person one way when I used them two years ago, get you on campus pretty quick and painless, and you aren't locked into the parking around the stadium.

I used the old Hill's plaza lot, make sure you read up to know for sure where to park.

I'm glad the series with PSU is ending, and I'm not looking forward to any games with WUV.

Last year I'll never forget grown adults with cow bells chanting we are and hearing the psu players laughing at them...

I had to physically restrain some 6-4, 280 ish 55 year old psu fan from going after my buddy in the restroom before the game, then spent the whole game nursing some big arse underclass kid who was literally stupid drunk, falling into the girls in front of us and acting a menace the whole game.
