Why is Berhalter playing 1st teamers on this surface

That field is shocking.

And right there a few minutes ago why Ethan Horvath was a flash in the pan last summer. That was an absolute terrible goal to let in.

Man. Here’s video of Forest working the phones right now looking for a starting GK

Lol. And right on cue, I go to twitter and see this tweet. If Forest has no faith that Horvath can be a #1 in the Prem, then we shouldn’t get any ideas that he’s good enough for us in Qatar.

I just requested a try out for their #2 position. They only asked 1 question. “Where would you have been positioned during that goal”. They must’ve liked my answer, told me forget the tryout, you’re our #2 now

That was a waste of time playing the game last night. We arent going to see conditions like that in the World Cup
The World Cup isn't the only reason you have a team. There actually are other competitions all these teams play in.

Yes but this nations league this summer is a waste of time. Did you see how many people are in the crowds? No one! No one needs a nations league in a World Cup year. Additionally not to sound like an agent or players union rep, these players are playing way too much football. They get no time off. Injuries and quality of play are a major issue.

I really hope Berhalter is spending all his free time watching the England tape. They haven’t scored an open goal in 5 hours of play. They’re tired no doubt. And maybe they are bored too. But everyone seems to have figured them out! Get it done Greg!

Not really, it's a couple extra games to play together before the big dance.

England lost 4-0 to Hungary in UEFA Nations League. Was that with their first team?

That’s the point. I can’t disagree with you more strongly. They should be playing a UEFA team or two to get ready for Wales and England. Less than a year ago we played Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League, followed by a full schedule of Concacaf World Cup Qualifying matches. That’s enough Concacaf for a year. UEFA teams want to step out of UEFA too and they are locked into Nations League as well. Everyone is trying to get ready for World Cup and these continental tourneys aren’t helping. We just wasted a valuable week in a tight cycle playing a middle school team (Grenada) and on a middle school shithole pitch in El Salvador. We are lucky we came out healthy and all we lost was preparation opportunities. And the games were a waste of time because there ARE NO TAKEAWAYS from either match. None. Zilch. Nada.

I personally don't think any preparation is going to lead to a WC championship, so I don't see it being that big a deal. I actually kind of think USMNT fans who expect a WC championship will never be happy, it' like Greek or Korean fans being upset that their team can't beat Brazil or Germany. Maybe someday, USA might compete better but I don't think it's within my lifetime to be honest. My hope is that they make it past the group.

I get it. But it doesn’t mean they should be wasting time against Grenada in a World Cup year. You have to admit it. No one cares and it serves no purpose.

World soccer is kind of weird, there are no levels, like D1, D2, D3... it's like as if Pitt made the NCAA tournament and in the week in between they where forced to play LaRoche and at Geneva on a concrete court behind a parking lot. :)

It's not like the only thing to play for is to win the World Cup. There are other ways that success can and is measured, and last night did nothing to get the team closer to any of those goals.

I’m somewhere in the middle I guess. I would much rather be playing these prep matches against European, Asian, or African teams to get more acclimated to a style of play the US doesn’t see much of other than a World Cup type scenario.

On the other hand I can see how an experience like last night can serve as a team bonding experience. Luckily no one was injured, and I wouldnt be surprised if it was referred to later as a trial under fire that these guys all experienced together.

Every game is a stand alone event to me, just a TV show for entertainment, it doesn't have to accomplish anything beyond itself.

That’s weird. Leagues should just do away with playoffs and championships then. Make every game an exhibition. Trophies are worthless anyways.

Not at all, I don't see why I have to worry about the next game or the playoffs today, today I just want to see THIS ONE GAME, with no concern as to what it LEADS TOO, that doesn't men I don't want to win a title, but I don't need to be worrying about the future right this minute.

That’s like watching a movie and only caring about 1 scene and no connectivity to the rest of the movie.
And honestly you have to be trolling because there is no way you can be entertained by a match contested by a team of guys making millions playing against a middle school team.

OK, that's you're opinion, but it's why I can get excited to watch a game of a bad Pitt hoop team or a minor league sport, because I can be entertained and satisfied watching an event that leads to nothing down the road. I can't relate to fans that quit watching their team as soon as they are eliminated from playoff contention, they claim there is NO REASON to keep watching, IMO there is a reason, because I want a game to see today, and that's all the reason I need.
