I'm not listening to the Fan, but IMO the win today was pivotal in our effort to make the NCAAT !
It's amazing the lack of basic college basketball acumen-- he can look up the RPI (33 by the way) and the committee doesn't pick by conference standings- they never have.
There's an element that insists on taking the same attitude about Pitt no matter the results, and proclaiming (in so many words):
"When Pitt loses, Pitt sucks.
When Pitt wins, the other team sucks."
Regardless of the detractors, that was a real nice win today for Pitt. A very important one, too. No matter who tries to minimize it or what reasons their reasons are.
This idiot says that Pitt will have their hands full with Jefferson of Duke, who is injured and has been since December. He also said that Massoud of Louisville would be tough for Pitt. Since he is out for the year with an injury that probably won't happen! Where do they get this bumpkins.
Didn't listen to the post game beyond Dixon's comments. However, I have not trouble agreeing that SU really is not that good, even in the dome, this year. Still, I will take the sweep over the Orange any year. Who knows how good PITT really is? They might make the NCAA tournament but expectations are not high for advancement. And I can't blame for media or fans for feeling that way. Afterall, up until today, February had not been a good month for PITT BB (notwithstanding a 2bl OT win over a bad Wake Forest team).
The more I listen to the Fan, I can't help but think the hosts are mostly average in their basketball discussion and the many of the fans (most PITT fans that do call) seem less knowledgeable ----but that is just my impression.
The post game for football and basketball on the FAN is mediocre, imo. Too bad---the right host could probably make it more entertaining but weekend hosts are typically not the top of the line talent.

Did someone really say this or are you just being sarcastic? I'm amazed no one would call in and make fun of them for being so stupid. I can't believe Pittsburgh radio could have guys discussing basketball that don't actually follow the sport at all.
I can't wait for FullOfBaloney's excuses as to why 'Cuse got manhandled and beaten by Pitt....again. Boeheim is a HOF coach and he has brought their season back until the last 2 games. 'Cuse isn't UNC, but they're also not bad. But according to FullOfBaloney and The Fan, 'Cuse is more talented than Pitt and Cook would have you believe that Pitt is on the verge of a total collapse. You'd think that the hacks at The Fan never did research or can't read. I think that is really the case.
Exactly, Ric! Truer words were never spoken. Most of the players that play for Boeheim are 4 and 5 star talents. Many of them are HS A-A's, too. Beating them is not easy. Vegas knows what the deal is. Who was favored today? Not Pitt But now that Pitt wins; after the fact: "Oh, Syracuse just isn't very good. No big deal for Pitt to beat them." Bull$h!t.
I can't stand Boeheim and I still thought the comment was odd. He was seriously saying that it wasn't that good of a win because Syracuse is a team that only plays 7 guys. But then said they have more talent, Boeheim just won't put them in the game.
'Cuse has played with a very short bench under Boeheim for many years. They've had some great teams and NCAA Trny. runs playing that way, too. Jimmy B. does that because he prefers to play that way. So if he's using that to belittle Boeheim's coaching now, then he's got a VERY convenient memory or just deosn't know what he's talking about
Just a shame that people in Pittsburgh have to listen to uneducated radio hosts making excuses for the Orange losing instead of just admitting that Pitt was the better team.
