Sagarin predicts about a 9 point win and a 68% chance of winning.

ESPN predicts a 13.5 point win and an 88.8% chance of winning.

Sagarin's computer probably too heavily biased by results of games with Hugley out or limited, IMHO.

It's hard to say or predict how this team will play on any given day or night. Forget the point spreads. This team is ill-prepared in every game they play. If the other team makes too many mistakes or we get some shooters on a hot streak, we have a chance to win. But we can lose against anybody and everybody. It's pretty sad until we get a whole new coaching staff.

How much better is Pitt with a healthy Hugley?

Somewhere between 0 and 9 points per game better? At 4.5 points better that would put them near the middle of the ACC pack (Sagarin ratings). Nine points better would put them up around the bottom of the upper third of the ACC.

IMHO, with a healthy Hugley it won't be zero points better--but surely they will not be 9 points better. My speculation is about 3 better and maybe Sagarin ranked around #90 vs the current Sagarin #133. I don't see being any more optimistic than that--

Healthy (as in back on the blocks and punishing people) would help a good bit.

Defensive rebounding has looked ugly. Getting outhustled and outmuscled.

Ben Wight is very good. Better than any true 5 we've had since Steven Adams. I hope the new coach goes after him in the portal

They need less of the 3 guard offense and a little more Jorge. The rebounding is atrocious and giving up way too many points in the paint

Giving up too many easy baskets

Missing too many layups of our own

Not securing easy rebounds

Clean that up and we will be OK

Good gracious Hugley is out of shape. The ACC is gonna eat him alive.
Very few players in the ACC are bangers. I think he'll do well and we are lucky we have so many big. Much more concerned about how we can't defend anyone with quickness.

The helpside defense isn't... you know "helping". It looks like they are out of position way too much. I can't imagine this isn't being addressed daily in practice.

1st half it was awful.
2n'd half you could see
they were better. With
that said, they still were
getting beat during/after
a switch....difference was
they did get "some" help
D. Also, the effort, and I
would guess the talking
(communication)was better.

The schedule softens up when we hit ACC play
I’ll take the john Steigerwald approach here, since he blames soccer for everything, including the demise of the NFL because of soccer style kickers. The ACC is a soccer league now and because of that they let their guard down and let basketball slip. Pitt’s investment in non revenue sports is just following the ACC’s lead. Don’t blame Heather, blame Charlotte!!

The schedule softens up when we hit ACC play
We all know the ACC is
not as strong as it used
to be. If we didn't, you
are making sure we know
with you incessant
diatribe reminding us.

Yes, we will be playing
some ACC bottom dwellers
like Louisville, ND, BC,
maybe GT. However Duke,
NC, UVA, all are better
than Michigan and WVU,
NW, and Vandy. The other
ACC teams that are ACC mid
level are all better than
VCU and the patsies we
already beat. We also still
have N. Florida and Sacred
Heart on the schedule.

Your basic premise of an
upcoming ACC schedule
that is easier than what
we've played so far, is
far fetched. But then again,
what else is new.
