Wisky loses to Michigan....get used to it PC

Harbaugh is a better recruiter and a better coach. Why is it, every school but Pitt is cheating.

I will wait and see before thinking otherwise. I agree Harbaugh is one terrific coach and will get the Michigan Program into shape to challenge and beat Meyer's at Ohio State, in my opinion.

Yet, I still feel Barry Alvarez is the real Head Coach at Wisconsin and Coach Chryst is still the OC. I say this because both the prior Head Coaches left Wisky and did so in a manner with little notice to Barry Alvarez making me think, they did not like working under him?

Coach Paul is happy to accommodate Barry and and Barry is happy to have a Head Coach from Wisky that wants to stay at Wisky, but Barry is still going to put his eyes, hands, and thoughts into his Teams like he did when he coached them in Bowl Games after those Coaches left.

The combination of a Alvarez-Chryst Coaching Wisky is still formidable in my opinion, and Michigan is in for a game when they play each other in the future. Just like they will be with MSU-Dantonio and OSU-Meyers.

Whether that will be true on UM-PSU, or when NU-UM play I will wait and see, but it is hard for me to think Barry Alvarez is goingto allow Coach Paul to fail, and Barry is going to dictate Defense and Special Teams excellence through Assistant Coaches that Coach Chryst seem to ignore or was incapable of selecting and leading at Pitt?

The way I see it, the Wisconsin Program is a "System Program" created, designed, and run by Barry Alvarez that did not want to be 18/7 Head coach anymore, but still is the Real Head Coach!

The same for MSU Dantonio too, he has developed MSU into a "System Program" and no matter what level of recruits they take, they find the Assistant to develop their recruits into good players that make great Teams!

This type of Program makes and will give Top 10-15 Programs that have many Resources from Top Recruiting to Top Summer Camps to Top Revenues to Top Contributor Boosters to Top Coaches to Top Sold Out Stadiums fits when playing against them.

They may not always win, but they are going to show up and be prepared to execute a great game plan even against recruits, players, and coaches with more stars and advantages, and to take them lightly is a big mistake.

The one thing i am going to watch for at Wisky is how the Defense and especially the Special Teams do under Coach Chryst this and next few years. I expect the Defense will be better because Coach Chryst at times had it working good enough at Pitt at times.

Yet, all 3 Years of Special Teams at Pitt under Chryst cost Pitt 2 to 3 wins a year, and Coach Chryst would laugh that the did not need a ST Coach, but that hurt his record and letdown his players as far as I am concern, just on a couple of ST Plays that cost them close games, and why I think he is more of a Dumbo than a complete coach.

If Wisky all of sudden has great Special Teams, it won't be because of Chryst is my point, it will be because Alvarez will make sure Chryst has the Assistants to coach the Defense and another for Special Teams?

This is the same OC Chryst that could not see how Voytik could run and lift the Team to winning if they design a few Running Plays for him, after he lost to Iowa, Akron, and UVA, but then ran Voytik against VT and won but by then he had 3 Losses that should have been wins?

I still think Coach Paul is great OC and knows how to build an Offense, but we shall see if Alvarez will keep his hands in the Wisky program until Coach Chryst becomes a complete Head Coach?

The number one player in Wisconsin, an offensive lineman, spurned in state favorite UofW to play for Harbaugh at Meechigan.

Can't help but think that the honeymoon will end relatively quickly in Madison for PC

Did you see Chryst's schedule this year? Besides losing to Bama in Arlington, they could win the other 11 games. The Big Ten West is very weak and they managed to avoid Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, and Michigan from the East. They get Maryland and Rutgers as their crossover games.

Chryst's schedule is much much easier at Wisconsin than it would have been at Pitt and he was coaching for his job here. At Wisky though, anything less than 9-3 against that schedule has got to be considered a disappointment.

All very good points, but Chryst is inheriting a pretty good Top 25 Team and Harbaugh is rebuildng and having to change the attitude of his players he is inheriting too?

Turning around attitudes sometime takes more time than coming in when Barry Alvarez knows this Team and coached it in a Bowl Game, and already knows what Chryst can do as a great OC!

My point is Harbaugh & Staff has more unknowns than Chryst-Alvarez does this year. Harbaugh will need some time but Chryst-Alvarez should be ready for this Duo Prime Time at least in 2015?

If Chryst loses 4 to 5 games I will be surprised and Barry Alvarez will start to see some trouble on holding onto his job sooner not later at 72 and I just don't see that happening in 2015?

Over time,Chryst will either get better as a Head Coach or will show he is better at being an OC just like Foge Fazio did as DC but lacked a Head Coaching personality to win on his own?

The Badger fans are about the find out very quickly how poor of a recruiter PC is.

"Go visit the Wolverines before you decide."
Chryst will be playing with house money (i.e. Upperclassmen) for the next two years. He'll do okay with what he inherited. And he'll have a much better defense in Wisky than he had at Pitt - along with a much better DC.

I don't get all of the negativity about Paul Chryst. If the posters here are as pleased with Pat Narduzzi as they claim to be, then they should be happy that Chryst left.

I did see it which is why I purposively avoided referencing 2015. Also, Wisky fans have seen it too and have the same expectations as do you. If PC loses 2 or 3 games he should not lose, then the griping will start.
Have you seen the 2016 schedule? It gets loaded with the big boys.
As for the Captains prediction of Harbaugh overtaking Meyer...well, Meyer has lost a grand total of 1 conference game in 3 years. 1! Harbaugh has not won a championship anywhere. Is he a good coach? I think so. Is UofM poised for a rebound? I think so. Is Meyer a shrinking violet who worries about his foes? I haven't seen it. Actually, he has the heart of a killer. He is cold and calculated. I wouldn't start writing OSU,s obit anytime soon.
But PC is in the big leagues and he is nowhere near the coach of most of his foes. Nice guy? Yes. Stellar head coach? No.

It is written in the article I linked, so I elected to not repeat it.
But, what is not well known is that PC is actually uncle by marriage to this kid!!!

Bredenson is a UM legacy recruit (Brother plays baseball). Good get for UM, but this is more of a special case than if Iowa or MSU got Melvin Gordon. MSU got underrated recruits Trae Waynes and RJ Shelton who both had Wisconsin offers, but that was partially due to them slowplaying while MSU was in early. They weren't linemen or running backs either.

Yea, get used to this. Chryst "slowplays" just about every recruit.

You're right. Michigan is a better school, historically has been a far better program, has much nicer facilities, much deeper legitimate resources, and is on the rise after the disastrous RR/Hoke era. Great opportunity for an elite player.

Wisconsin has built a strong program, but it will never be in the very small blue blood club in college football. Michigan is a founding member of same.

And I don't even like Michigan.

Speaking only for myself, I don't dislike PC in the least. I just don't think he was a good HC here, and I don't think he's got the stuff to be a good HC anywhere. I think three straight years of 6-6 supports that conclusion. At the end of the day he left the offense in better shape than he found it, and did the opposite with the D. When he left, it didn't move the needle one bit for me, in either direction. I don't wish hin ill but I expect a significant dropoff from Wisky over the next 3-4 years. The difference between Wisky and Pitt is Alvarwz will not hesitate to jettison PC if he lets the Wisky machine start to break down.

My guess is that Alvarez won't let PC drop the ball there. Exhibit one is that he overruled PC's desire to bring House on and made him keep the current dc, who is well regarded.
