With Cults All Things Possible

Here is my question for jay. After your father found out jerry was a pedophile, why did he refuse to tell any one till after the weekend was over. Also, after the higher ups at ups failed to do anything why did he not go to the press and out the pedophile? Was it because he had too much to lose?

Who the hell dresses Jay? Did anyone tell him a lt blue tie on a lt blue shirt is stupid?
LOL, You Go Owtie, nice observation, spot on!

I still predict the Paterno's will bring the demise of Franklin and Jay WILL RETURN to coaching on Penn State Sidelines! Perhaps not as Head Coach, but he ain't hanging around at State College for nothing, and they are spinning a new web and have a Plan!

There will be a Coup against Barron, Barbour, Compliance Staffers, and Franklin once the New Trustees Cultists take over?

THE RETURN OF THE CULTISTS will be a good Book Title!

Just a Hunch!

Who's walk in closet is hosting that JayPa meet and greet?

I have a question. I have not really followed the PSU / Sandusky scandal, I could careless. However a relative of mine is representing PSU (I have no inside information). That relative's work at PSU got my son interested in the whole debacle. He watched the movie Happy Valley and his question for me was why does anybody care about their graduation rate (they chant 85% over and over) please keep in mind he is 16. I do not have a good answer for him. I know this might be a silly question but think about it these are adults with free choice. 90% of them will never play football again after college.

I think you answered your own question? It's good to have a high graduation rate b/c it shows players that you will prepare them for life if they can't make money playing football.

Graduation rates among his players was one of the things I actually respect Paterno for. You can say "fake majors" and all that, but at least he made them get the degree.

Only they care, because the cult (and that is exactly what they are) sees it as one of the validations of the Paterno creedo "Success with Honor", or as he has called it, "the Grand Experiment." The intent of those slogans is to suggest that Penn State, and more specifically Penn State football, conducts its affairs in an honorable and moral way, while most others do not. This is the culture of Paterno-led righteousness that has been sold for 40 years, and has served as the basis of the cult's value system to such a degree that they've sold WWJD bracelets (where the J stands for Joe). This is the true meaning of "We are Penn State," as chanted by most of the cult to mean, "We are" and "You are not." This is alway why you have seen, over the years, a continual fall back to the position of "well, we do things the right way" when there is a loss on the field, or "he's not Penn State material" when they lose a recruiting battle. This is why people lit candles outside the Paterno's home during the scandal and why many continue to make effigies to this discredited man. He was not just a football coach; for many, he served as their moral compass.

Of course, like every cult, they refuse to use common sense and are blinded to reality because it threatens to knock down this house of cards. Even after the fraudulent nature of the slogans filling their all too abundant banners were exposed for what they were by the heinous cover-up of decades of serial child rape, they cling to these notions that were cultivated by Paterno. Without getting into the ridiculous nature of how they dealt with the criminal conduct of their players that long proceeded the pedophilla scandal, there was copious academic fraud as well; things that will likely never come out in the main stream and are long buried, but nonetheless known to those who were around the Penn State program. There were plenty of academic "tutors" counted in that 85% graduation rate.

Like everything else, 85% is a shinny slogan built on fraud. And frankly, why anyone would put stock in any promotional device originating from the Lasch Building is beyond my comprehension.

I will tell you that the relative who is doing the work commented on how they never experienced an atmosphere like that in Happy Valley. The brief description was one of a single minded us against them attitude.

Huh? Paterno pioneered the whole fake majors/passing players through model that has been copied by everybody including Pitt. Those players didnt learn anything. They got a useless piece of paper. Thats it.

Im being totally serious when I say a smart middle school student could complete the same coursework required of PSU football players, then and now. And its not just PSU anymore. Every place is like that and we can thank the great Paterno for the grand idea of handing out unearned degrees. What a man!

Which is also very typical of cults.

Everything that happened was a conspiracy to get "them."

Look at the alumni board of trustee elections following the scandal. Overwhelming landslide wins for people running on the platform that Paterno was a scapegoat and that the university should fight to overturn the sanctions, and most importantly, fight to restore Paterno's legacy. After all, that should be the priority after the most sordid scandal in the history of sports, no? It is the very model of a cult of personality.

The university also celebrated this circle-the-wagons mentality when it emblazoned the 2012 on the facade of Beaver Stadium. The administration is waste deep in it. The culture that led them down the path of hiding child rape remains strong.

Zero sense of contrition was ever evident during the whole sordid thing. They are a very disturbing and digusting group.

Paterno's answer was I did not want to bother anyone on the weekend, but he never seem to grasp children lives weer ruined for life?

I know that this won't be a popular post in some circles, but universities with D-1 football teams would gain a lot more academic credibility if they'd bounce a few football players by the wayside every so often. I don't care how much tutoring, study halls, and other prep work that these players are given; universities should be embarrassed to award degrees to some of these players who can't even construct a good sentence - written or spoken.

There's no way that some of these kids are doing the classwork that the schools are claiming that they're doing. Gifting a piece of paper to a kid doesn't make him "college-educated". The UNC scandal exposed it: their athletes were getting diplomas that they themselves lacked the ability to read. For this reason, graduation rates have become a meaningless statistic.

Was at the VET Office with my Cat yesterday and this Washington Redskin Fan was bad mouthing the Steelers while bragging about Paterno and how he got a raw deal at Penn State and was the only coach that graduated 100% of his Players.

I corrected him loudly I might add for all to hear, I said, first of all don't fall for all that Penn State Bullship about Paterno Graduation Rates? It was never 100%, that came from BC, UVA, ND, VANDERBILT, and DUKE a few times. Penn State did not even meet 70% sometimes so you got that wrong. Overall, Joe was a great Coach and sometimes had graduation rates of 70% to 90% but never 100%.

Also, it was revealed Penn State was not in compliance with many NCAA Rules, Clery/Title IX Acts and that was due to only Paterno demanded to have all control over his Players and some played even as they were suspended by the University?

He says you must be a Pitt Fan? I said, I am! And you should Thank Pitt for sending the Washington Redskins two of the best lineman that ever played in the NFL that won all those Super bowls for your Redskins in Mark May and Russ Grimm?

He just glared at me, and I smiled and said I see you you have a nice Dog!

The Vet Staff took me right away after my loud response.

I bring Sweets to the entire office every time I go there, later I learned he got mad that he was there 30 minutes before me, and they kept him and the Dog waiting, while taking care of Cat in 5 minutes.

They told him I had a Special Appointment and they took another 3 Cats before him too! You can't win friends and expect great service by bad mouthing the Steelers and the Vets were Ohio State and PENN Graduates!

Penn State misinformed fans need treatments to get their facts straight, but don't blame their pets?

Do everywhere you go, people talk openly and loudly about college football? Because, they don't where I go.

WOW!!!!

Dear Craziness... you NAILED IT. The whole sickening, arrogant, holier-than-thou psychosphere that is Penn State. Yes, it revolved mainly around the football program. But it imbued the entire university, and it was driven my Paterno's insane arrogance and pride.

As you said, and this is the cult message that will redound for the age: WE ARE!!! is all about "you're not as good as us".

I've gotten into very heated conversations with PSU'ers over this... but that is the truth at the heart of their warped world view.

The nitters in the Harrisburg area are drinking the kool aid again now that they were able to handle Buffalo and Rutgers. They're talking about it, flying their flags, wearing their gear much more now than in the recent past. I was so happy that the Red Land little league team took over the news in this area in August because it minimized, if not eliminated, the nitter preseason coverage. I almost think that's the reason Franklin invited the Red Land team to PSU for a day-just to get himself back on the news. He's an attention whore, so I wouldn't put it past him.

Maybe some of the Red Land players had hot-looking moms? Surely that would've gotten Coach Big Mouth's attention, enough to get the invitation...;)

The great and considerate JoePa already explained the delay... he "didn't want to ruin anyone's weekend." That is verbatim from his testimony to the grand jury.

A great man.

Only in Pennsylvania can someone say something like that, and not be committed to a mental hospital. Of all the excuses he could've had, that is easily the stupidest thing he could've said. What's sickening though is that is how Paterno looked at everything.
A starter is failing three classes... why ruin our chances this weekend for the team, let him play! Sandusky is doing something "sexual" with young boys as McQueary told him, I'll just tell someone Monday, Tim Curley is probably at the big wrestling match, no sense in making him get up out of his seat and leave.
I don't think Paterno is innocent by any means, but I also don't think he should've been the main focus. However, how anyone, Penn State fan or not, can still have any respect for someone after they said that is beyond me.
PSU not getting the death penalty was the biggest joke in college sports history. Not only was football more important than kids getting raped, but having a fun, drunken weekend in State College is also more important apparently. Just sickening.
