Must be a Pittsburgh thing?
So, now in what was called College Football with student athletes competing for the glory of Good Ole U, we now suddenly in a pure Have and Have Not free for all.

Just like the Pirates and Free Agency, we can find, nurture, groom and grow great talent and see them for their developmental years, but then, the very moment they can, we watch them bolt for the big $$$ of the mega rich franchises.

So why continue to pay attention to this charade/sham? Used to be we could relate to the players, we saw them in the dorm room next to us, in the classes we attended, walking around campus, etc. Slowly, however, the players were isolated from the normal college experience.

Now, they are just hired hands, or like someone else said, contractors. They are not bound by any sense of loyalty, or any rules, or anything really. They can transfer and play immediately, and of course get paid big money. So, they are ALL essentially free agents.

College football is now dead as we knew it. What we have now is at best undefined. It is a cluster of players circulating amongst teams who happen to be named after colleges and universities.

So why should we care anymore? Pitt football is just a name now. Like the Altoona Curve or the Erie Timberwolves. Players will come and go, especially the very best. As a college football fan for decades, I didn't sign up for this flustercluck. This isn't college football anymore, this is chaos and greed, and a complete sham.

It was fun while it lasted!
