Please...They played the number 10 team in the country basically even until Florida State pulled away at the very end. It was a one point game with 4-1/2 minutes left. If you think that today was an indication that the team stinks you clearly don't know who is and isn't good in women's college basketball.
Please...
Aysia Bugg had senior night. Does that mean she won't be back next year? Do anyone know if she medical redshirted? If so, can't she play another year? We can definitely use her.
IMHO they FINALLY looked somewhat like they had some skills. Had they played
this way all along they'd have another win or two in the league. I've been highly
critical of the talent level, but maybe they're improving. Again, they looked more like
the mid point in the ACC as opposed to what I've seen so far...bottom third at best.
Now, one game does not a season make, so to speak. So I'll hold out on any long
term judgement, because they still need a major upgrade in talent, and at least one
BIG who can be effective in the paint, and a legit PG (kinda like the guys).
The gap between where we are now and the top level of the ACC is still great.
It seems like they have been playing a little better lately. Unfortunately the schedule lately has not been kind to a bad team that is improving a little. 10th ranked team yesterday, the previous game was against a bottom feeder that they won on the road, the game before that was against the 18th ranked team and the game before that was against the 5th ranked team. Their next game is Sunday, on the road against bottom feeder Boston College. If they are truly getting better that's one they should win, even if it is on the road.
As far as a talent upgrade, they have an ESPN top 100 point guard for next season already signed, but of the three players signed for next year they are all guards and all listed at either 5-7 or 5-8. I guess they are hoping that Henry or Judson (or hopefully both) really improve from this year to next.
2 of the recruits reportedly had ACL injuries during the year, I think that the girl from Greece is still healthy. It seems like they have been playing a little better lately.
