Another game, another loss.
I thought maybe we could
beat a 4-6 Duke team on
our home floor. Neither
team IMO is very good.
Duke was 35% FG's, 32%
3, and 40% FT's. Those are
not great %'s, but better
than our23%. 28% and 77%.
Out Assist/TO ratio once
again was very bad, 7/15. Last
game I posted it was a
killer, same with this week.
Duke's 13/18 wasn't all that
great either, but better than
ours.

I guess when we aren't having
20+ TO's it's an improvement,
but it's still bad. I also guess
it's an improvement when it's
not an all helter skelter outta
control offensive pace, but it
still appears raggedy. I feel bad
for these girls, because they
seem like really good people, and
good team mates. They hustle,
try hard, and clearly pull for
each other. They appear to be
good athletes, but the basketball
light bulb sometimes appears
not to be on.

The talented, volume shooting “stars” are not stars.

Start from scratch. Find a couple real stars.

Don’t know what’s happened to Jayla Everett’s shooting. Her and Day combined to go 3 for 24. Everett used to be a pretty good shooter.

Might be time for Everett and Harris to be forced to only take “good” shots instead of having the green light to put up anything that occurs to them…

Coach White needs to find an assistant coach who can teach these players how to play offense…. We scored 4 points in the first quarter!

Go Pitt.

I don't believe they have
to start fron scratch. There
is some talent on this team
and there is a lot of depth.

I do think they can be used
differently. What I'm seeing
at this point is very little
improvement. I don't think
they're being developed.

I think you're second paragraph
answered what you were asking
in your first paragraph, and I
would agree with you.

That wouldn't solve all their
problems, but I think it might
be a good start,

I agree. We had the momentum going and Jayla puts up an unforced shot with plenty of time on the shot clock and the last hope of a comeback went out the door.Duke went on from there and won going away. But it’s not all on her plenty of bad shots and layups missed by everybody.

I think I figured it out last night. Somehow this team has gotten the idea in their heads that they will be awarded bonus points for increasing the degree of difficulty of their shots. The number of times that they shoot off balanced fade away jumpers when they could just as easily go straight up and shoot the ball is astounding. The number of times that they miss point blank shots because they are trying to avoid contact that isn't coming ridiculous.

It seems like Everett especially has gotten herself to a place where she just can't shoot a regular, straight up jump shot. And she wasn't like that in the past. I don't know if some poor shooting earlier this year has gotten into her head or what, but her shooting form has gone from pretty good to downright awful.

She's not taking what's there.
As I see it, she's thinking
shoot first, as opposed to
what's presenting itself on
the floor. The result of that
is an off balanced, forced
shot instead of a shot that
comes out of normal ball
movement.

As for Harris it's not much
better. She very often
dribbles to the side, nothing
there, so she dribbles back
to the other side while the
other four players are
standing and watching. She
then come off this and forces
a bad jumper.

What's really bad with this,
they both know how to
shoot, and are our best
shooters.

This team has no identity whatsoever. It’s really frustrating to watch.
White and Capel started about the same time and both are still stuck in the basement.
Need to replace both this off-season. White hasn’t been able to get it done on the recruiting trail and his X & O leaves a lot to be desired.
