Second ACC win of the season, both on the road. Clemson still has not won an ACC game.

Pitt jumped out to a big early lead and then as is typical they stopped scoring and let Clemson right back into it. Pitt went from 17-8 ahead to 20-18 behind from late in the first to early in the second. Clemson scored the last seven of the first half to take a six point lead, and then scored the first two baskets of the second half to take a 10 point lead. They then proceeded to only score four more points the rest of the quarter (and two of them were foul shots with two seconds left in the quarter). The lead went back and forth in the fourth quarter, Pitt's biggest lead was four and Clemson's biggest lead was three. Clemson made a basket with three minutes left to take a 56-53 lead, and then didn't score again the rest of the game. Brenna Wise made three of four from the line to tie it, then Stasha Carey made a basket with 16 seconds left to give Pitt the lead for good. Carey blocked a Clemson layup attempt with seven seconds left and the ball went out of bound to Pitt (after about a five minute video review). Wise was fouled on the inbounds and made one of two and then Clemson missed a desperation three at the buzzer.

Pitt had their typical 11 turnovers in the first half, but then only had four more in the second half. Clemson got 14 points off Pitt turnovers in the first half but only four in the second half. Interestingly SM-S took Aysia Bugg out of the game late in the 3rd quarter in favor of Brittany Gordon (who had not played until that point) and then left Gordon in most of the rest of the game.

Fred Potvin led Pitt with 15 points on 5-7 from three. Carey had 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Good post. Only saw some of the first half.

--Fred "Tres Bien" Potvin is doing a nice job as a starter. Her threes were timely and crucial to the victory.

--Pitt had 5 turnovers early in the game and they were all on errant passes - passes you wouldn't think they'd be making this late in the season. Surprised to see that Bugg is only credited with 2 turnovers in the box score.

--I thought Coach Suzie waited a long time to go zone in the first half. Clemson's guards were driving to the hoop consistently and either scoring or getting fouled. Usually Pitt plays the dribble very well, but they struggled in the first half today.

--I wondered why Yacine Diop wasn't returning the favor and driving to the hoop for Pitt. She did make a couple of nice drives later in the first half. I'd tell Yacine she can only shoot when she's 10 feet or less from the hoop...

--Very nice game by Stasha Carey with 11 rebounds and 13 points. Plus 5 blocks including the big one at the end of the game. She took 10 shots - I'd like to see her take at least 10 shots every game.

--Cassidy Walsh played 12 minutes and Gordon 10 - I presume all at the point. Coach Suzie continues getting freshman Walsh doses of game experience.

Nice when you can score the final 6 points and win by 3. Pitt is now 10 and 12.

Go Pitt.

All of Walsh's minutes came in the first half. All of Gordon's came in the second half (really, in the last 12 - 13 minutes of the game). There were times when Walsh was on the court with both Bugg and Potvin, and those times both Bugg and Walsh were kind of sharing the point. Sometimes one would bring the ball up and start the offense and sometimes the other would.
