Women with a win over Clemson

King with 17 and 7 while playing in foul trouble all game. Perkins with 16 including four made threes. Malcolm with 13. Washenitz with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and only 2 turnovers.
Day Harris had 18 for Clemson with 6 rebounds and 4 assists, but as was too typical when she was here, she also had 8 turnovers.
Pitt outscored Clemson in the 2nd quarter 21-8 and then in the 3rd quarter 17-11 to take a 13 point lead, and then after a small Clemson run to start the 4th they pretty much held them at arms length the rest of the game.

I think they are getting better, but they still have a long way to go. They could still win a couple more this year if they play well.

Congrats to the women, Coach Verdi and the staff. At this point a win must feel terrific.
Perkins is really a puzzling player. She can go 4-6 or 0-6 from three — you just don’t know what to expect.

Great win by our women! Is Clemson a very good team? No, but
they've won more total games than we have, and they have 4
wins in the ACC. They've beaten teams that defeated us. So all
in all, this is a quality win for our players who continue to work
hard, hustle, and from what I can see on tv, have v. good team
chemistry.
Now for the usual, A/TO ratio.....but wait, it's not the "usual."
We were a much improved 12 Assists/17 Turn Overs. Not perfect,
but much improved. On the other hand, Clemson was 14/21. That,
and their shooting %'s ....29%, 22% were main reasons they lost.
Meanwhile we were 47%, 42% (second game in a row hitting our 3's).

Marley W is playing better....5 Assists only 2 TO's! She also only took
3 shots which is a good thing. Last few games she's more in control,
and not playing like a wrecking ball. I gotta believe an athlete like she
is can somehow learn to shoot (off season work needed).

Pitt women have a chance to win two ACC games in a row tomorrow when WF comes to town. WF is O-14 in the ACC. Yikes!
Also saw a note that Marley W. has taken 31 charges this season. Rather impressive but not all that surprising for the dogged game that she plays.
Is Perkins for real? If Perkins and Battle continue to improve, that would raise a bit of hope for the team to improve next season…
