Interesting article on coach of Shady Side Academy, a Pitt grad. This can't hurt as I believe SSA has some underclassmen that are supposed to be the real deal

What a terrific article about a terrific coach.

Thanks for sharing!

Great article. At first I
thought you were maybe
suggesting a new Pitt
WBB coach. ;)

They were actually beating Louisville in the last minute of the game today, and then it all fell apart.

Pitt was up one with about a minute to go when Washenitz missed a floater in the lane late in the shot clock. Liatu King got the rebound and instead of kicking the ball out an running some clock and a play she took a tough, challenged shot in the lane that missed. Louisville gets the rebound and comes down and hits a three to go up two. Pitt called timeout to advance the ball, but right after the inbounds Washenitz threw a bad pass that got picked off and thrown ahead for a layup and one when Washenitz fouled the shooter from behind. Foul shot good, Pitt down five. Pitt missed a three, got the rebound and missed another three, and after Louisville got the rebound Pitt fouled. Louisville made the shots for the final margin of victory, a 76-69 Louisville win.

I believe that Louisville has now beaten Pitt 21 times in a row.

I turned it on at the
end of the first half.
Second game in a row
Pitt led at the half.
Second game in a row
we gave up 50 or more
in the second half. On
the other hand we looked
pretty good playing some
decent Bball. Brown, and
King battled and scored
inside and I thought frosh
Weshenitz looked good also.
She and frosh Strickland
play hard and with confidence.
We led most of the way
and lost it at the end. I
wouldn't call it a choke
job, but L'Ville knows how
to win, we're still learning.

What drives me nuts is the
lack of a consistent player
rotation from game to game,
and White's head scratching
sustitute process. Hayford
goes from Zero minutes to
27 today?? Malcolm goes
from 24 to 9 today?? I thought
we might pull it out, but
L'ville hit over the zone and
had the height inside. Why
we don't switch that zone
and make adjustments is
beyond me.

That shot King took on
her offensive rebound
really hurt. "Kicking it
out and running some
clock" would probably
have gotten us to the
line where we were 15-16.
Of course 18 TO's helped
do us in too.

Louisville made 13 of 27 threes today. I guess we didn’t think they could shoot them that well?

Still baffled by Hayford’s minutes. Coach did seem to limit Day today, which seemed to help.

Monster game by AB. Imagine what she could do if she had a short jumper in her repertoire…

Go Pitt.

Well, since they hit 7-12
for 58.3% the first time
we played them in Dec,
I can't understand why
we would have thought
that. They also were 12-13
on FT's, in that game.
Sounds like they know
how to shoot to me.
Today four of them
shot 5-10, 3-4, 4-10,
and 1-2 on their threes.
So what do we do?
We play a zone and
they patiently worked
the ball and got good
looks.
They also hit putbacks
when they missed from
outside. Same as last
game, no adjustments
on D.

Hayford? Don't get me
started on that. LOL

AB is tough as nails. She's
doing all this as a very
undersized forward, all
on the inside no less.

There was still enough time left that Louisville wouldn't have had to attempt to foul and surely would have let it play out, but when you are up by one in the last minute running 15 or 20 extra seconds off the clock is a good thing.
