The Pitt women will play this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. Opponents will be South Dakota State, then Old Dominion, then Maryland.

------South Dakota State consistently has a good program (somehow) - they lost to ND by only 11 the other day. SDS has been to the NCAA tourney 5 of the last 6 years and has averaged 24 wins per season over that span. (BTW, SDS, located in Brookings, S.D., plays their home games in the "Frost Arena.")

------Old Dominion should be a Pitt win.

------Maryland is ranked in the top 10 and has been to 2 of the last 4 final 4s. Will be interesting to see how bad this one gets for the youthful Panthers...

Two out of three would be excellent work for the Panthers.

Go Pitt.

Don't be too quick to put South Dakota State in the win column. If there were a betting line on games like that Pitt would quite possibly be the underdog.

They should win 2 of 3.Are any of the games on TV ? But I have a question for you Majors as you are the most knowledgeable person on Pitt women's basketball. What do you think is Pitt's chances of landing any of the top 100 players still available (link below) and/ or Gibson ? Do you feel we can use any of them ?

No TV. And I agree with Joe that beating SDS would be a good win - they don't lose too many games.

And I follow the women's team, but I'm certainly not the "most knowledgeable" about them, especially their recruiting. Since she originally signed with Pitt, I wouldn't be surprised to see Naje Gibson next season, if she makes the grades at junior college.

But I'm still disappointed that Pitt didn't sign a decent, taller post player - that, to me, is the only missing piece of what would then be a very, very good team in the next year or two.

That 6'9" post from the Philly area would certainly fill the bill - and would give Pitt the chance to compete with just about anybody.

Go Pitt.
