I've posted that the key to the women's team is Stasha Carey needs to be the focus of the offense. She doesn't take enough shots.

Well, tonight, Pitt leads BC 30 to 27 at the half. Stasha Carey has scored 21 of Pitt's 30 points on 9 for 11 shooting, including 3 for 5 from 3-ball land.

So, Carey has 21 points, Walsh has 6 and Wise has 3. No other Panther has scored yet.

Interesting.

Go Pitt.

Majors, midway through the second quarter Pitt had scored 22 points. Walsh made a three and Carey was 8-8 from the field, 3-3 from three. Carey's first miss of the night was her 9th shot.

Also interesting that Walsh and Potvin played 15 and 13 minutes respectively in the first half, and they both have now started in the second half. Seems as if the coach is not pleased with a couple of the regulars.

By the way, according to the game cast on the BC web site not only are we Notre Dame but this game is part of the Big East Tournament Championship. Is anyone there paying any attention?

Joe,

I've had the feeling that Coach Suzie is bringing Walsh along slowly, but you can see her getting more and more involved. She was having problems with turnovers early but maybe she's starting to get more used to the speed of the game.

She has a really nice 3-point shot - something the team has lacked this season.

Need Yacine Diop to go on one of her runs tonight.

Go Pitt.

I didn't have the game on at the beginning, but at least one of the reasons that Potvin and Walsh are playing so much more tonight is that Diop is not playing. She played four minutes at the beginning and has not been back in since. She turned her ankle in the game on Sunday and after going to the locker room for a while she did come back in and play, but perhaps she's having problems with it again today.

The other person who isn't playing much is Kalista Walters. She picked up two fouls after playing only six minutes and has not been back in the game since.

Tie game to start the 4th. Be nice to get a win here.

And now with 6-1/2 minutes left in the game and Pitt down by 7 Diop is back in the game. Odd.

And a BC three makes it 10. BC on a 13-0 run.

Walters also makes a brief 4th quarter appearance, but her and Diop are now back on the bench. I can only guess at this point that a message was being sent.

Ugly finish with Pitt scoring only 3 points in the 4th quarter - like one of those really poor HS teams. Aysia Bugg continues to struggle. Tough for this team to win with no offensive contributions from Diop and Walters.

I imagine Stasha Carey was worn out in the 4th since she seemed to be the only one doing much of anything in the first 3 quarters... But maybe a game like this will get her going for the rest of the season.

Just another game's worth of experience and preparation for next season.

Go Pitt.

Carey made her first 8 shots including 3-3 from three, and then was 3-15 from the field and 0-3 from three after that.

On the radio after the game SM-S said that there would be changes in the starting lineup going forward. Based on their playing time (or lack thereof) tonight we could be seeing Diop and Walters heading to the bench at least to start. 7 minutes for Diop tonight, 9 for Walters. They combined for 0-6 from the field, 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 3 turnovers. Ouch.

Other than Cassidy Walsh starting in place of Bugg, hard to see many options that Coach Suzie has. I guess we could see more of Tania Lamb at shooting guard.

I'd actually like to see Fred Potvin start -- at least for a few games -- and see if she can do more than just be a stand-still 3-point shooter.

Go Pitt.

The lineup a t the start of the second half was Walsh at the one, Bugg at the two, Potvin at the three, Wise at the four and Carey at the five. Perhaps we see more of that going forward if the coach is as mad at Diop and Walters as she seemed last night.
