Very Impressive - and then answer is obviously no.
They made the Sweet 16's the last 2 years, so he did not have to do it.Probably not, although not reaching the Tournament at UCLA actually does qualify as a spectacular failure.
That's a blue blood through and through. There's no excuse to miss the Dance.

Zero chance.
He'd write a letter chastising the fan base and making snarky comments.
Whatever, he gone!
I think in 3-4 years we will be happy. Some think we won't. We shall see.

Jesus Christ are you guys sensitive.
Get over yourselves
Yeah, Jamie has never come close to this situation, so hard to say. He would run into a towering inferno to save a woman from sure death in a burning car though.Probably not, although not reaching the Tournament at UCLA actually does qualify as a spectacular failure.

He was also already in hot water because of the initial "They fired Ben Howland for THIS?" reaction. UCLA was convinced they could get Shaka Smart or Gregg Marshall or even Brad Stevens (I know, right?) to replace Howland and they just totally whiffed.
It's not a hard concept I'm very consistent.
I give an opinion on Dixon. I get name called.
You called people names earlier, I pointed it out.
I don't think he'd give an extension back. Do you?
And my post was hyperbole but it didn't attack you or pittdog or anyone else.
Don't worry Bob, I still like you.
Except for when you got on me for criticizing Robinson. Then I hated you.
Thank you.
And while I appreciate the sentiment I don't come on here for people to like me.
But my picture is up and my Twitter name is my real name. And I don't run my mouth on here name calling people because I have a different opinion and appreciate when people do the same. And when people take things so personal when I say something about a guy making over 3 million dollars a year and is about to leave its just straight bizarre to me.
I'm surprised you didn't reply to my comment to you.
Well as you probably know by now, there are a few on here that don't like change, don't want change and don't appreciate change. Those same people are also Dixon loyalists. Nothing wrong with that but convincing any of them that Dixon might need a change of scenery and we might need a new basketball coach is like pulling teeth. You just aren't going to get anywhere with that bunch.Thank you.

I did reply DT.
Have you ever considered that it wasn't the actual criticism that got you name called, but how you presented it? There are plenty of guys who post negative things about Dixon who don't get name called. It is curious at least to consider why.Well as you probably know by now, there are a few on here that don't like change, don't want change and don't appreciate change. I mean, what's the cutoff of how poorly our teams can perform? DT brings up 11 out of 13 and the 1st 8 years were great so he's earned some slack. Okay but it's been 5 years and counting and nothing is getting better. Should we just keep hoping every year that we will right the ship. 3 more years good? How about another 5? Heck we can always bring up the 1st 8 years(mostly reg season success only) but that ship has sailed a long time ago.
So in short, it's not nearly as bad on here to criticize Jamie now because his teams have just not been good. Heck try criticizing him on this board even 2 years ago - you'd be brutalized and called every name in the book.
I almost posted the same thing.Does anyone here willingly give money back to their bosses? Why should we expect anything different from Dixon?
Believe me, a few seasons ago just mentioning Dixon in any negative light and you were attacked and attacked and called names. And I'm not referring just about me. You sure like picking fights with me though huh?Have you ever considered that it wasn't the actual criticism that got you name called, but how you presented it? OK--I didn't know that we directed at me.
I could have done without: "He'd write a letter chastising the fan base and making snarky comments."
That's picking a fight? I was pretty calm and respectful, and didn't call you anything. I have responded to like 80 people the last few days, and you still think I single you out. That's a little off.Believe me, a few seasons ago just mentioning Dixon in any negative light and you were attacked and attacked and called names. And I'm not referring just about me. Sure you could, it's hyperbole. Think there is a better chance of that than him giving money back but near 0 percent chance of doing either.
And It was a play off the report him leaving because of being underappreciated by a fan base.

And there's the angle. Questioning whether most coaches, let alone Dixon, would do this is largely an irrelevant exercise. This is true, although to be honest, if you get fired from an elite school or a blue blood you're going to be in a tough spot going forward.
Tubby had to go to Minnesota. Billy Gillespie had issues, but is now coaching a JC in Texas. Matt Doherty is pretty much invisible. Kevin O'Neill at Arizona was supposed to be Greg Gard from Wisconsin and wound up needing to go the NBA for a year. Lavin wound up at St. John's. Howland took time off and wound up at Mississippi State.
Those are places where you're going to win 20 games a year and make the NCAA's just because of the name on the front of your jersey. If you get fired, you're sunk. Buying himself some time at least gives him a chance to not get canned ASAP. Failing at an elite program more or less forces a coach to completely rehabilitate his career from the ground up.
