Seems Pitt has more interest in WPIAL recruits this year as compared to last. So far 6 have Pitt offers and 1 former WPIAL kid who moved has an offer as well. Here is the list:
Michael Carmody-OL, a national recruit, the top rated local kid. I don’t think he is even considering Pitt (just used them to get BB tickets this year). Waiting on his dream offer from ND if not he will pick a B10 school prob PSU or Mich.
Nikhai Hill Green-LB, former WPIAL kid who is now at national power St. Frances in Baltimore. Getting lots of interest with offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, WVU etc. Does not seem to think he is above Pitt as he said it was a “dream come true” when Pitt offered per the PG article about him.
Dayon Hayes-DE, City League kid from Westinghouse so naturally he will be under-recruited but seems Partridge & PN really like the kid as Pitt was his 1st P5 offer. Syracuse only other P5 offer at this point. Had 26 sacks last year, poor comp or not that’s a crazy #. Has visited quite a few times & looks like Pitt is in good position.
AJ Beatty-DE, I believe Pitt was his first P5 offer and now he has a bunch. WVU looks to be the favorite as the kid said it was his dream school. PPL dream of going to WVU???
Josh Rawlings-TE, seems pretty high on Pitt. Other P5 offers include Syracuse and Virginia.
Jack Salopek-QB, believe Pitt only P5 offer at this point, our OC recruited him at Umass.
Zuriah Fisher-LB, also P5 offers from BC, Cuse and Indiana
We have had the debate about WPIAL recruiting over and over. My thoughts are Pitt needs to take the best players they can get no matter where they are from. Most know there is just not enough local talent. As I have said before did you cheer for Larry Fitzgerald any less because he was not local? The logical answer is of course not. Not looking to debate this topic again but whatever...fire away.
Carmody (no interest in Pitt) & Green to a lesser extent are the only 2 really getting big time interest like a Hamlin was getting. What’s crazy is the group of kids who visited from the 757 this past week had more big name offers (as in national powers) than the entire WPIAL combined. But you never know as Dane Jackson was not a big name recruit. Watching Hayes video seems he can really move for a DE & once again 26 sacks. Green would be a nice get.
Any thoughts or info on these WPIAL kids who have Pitt offers? Who do you want us to get the most or think we have the best chance to land?
