How much input does the OC have on who the WR coach is going to be? Do you think Narduzzi was waiting for Whipple to become official to see if he has an preference?

I guess in general, how much input does any coordinator have on assistants? I would think he has some as he'd want assistants who are on the same page with how they want to run their unit to ensure it is taught properly.

Thoughts?

PN will probably ask the OC his thoughts but PN will make the final decision for sure. Our WR’s need to be coached a lot better. I think there is a more talent and ability than what we have seen (at least I hope there is). Yes QB play and pass protection was poor but our WR’s have not improved as they should. And this coach needs to recruit much better than our last WR coach who was not known as a recruiter.

I think it will be a collective effort with the Duzz deferring to the OC. As you pointed out the WR coach has to be a very good recruiter as well

It's kind of hard to assess the abilities of the receivers, as pass catchers, because so few were attempted.

What I did see as a huge positive out of that group was the unselfish blocking they did.

Somebody did a great job instilling a team first attitude in them.

I guess the question is, which coach is responsible.

Offer Dimichelle 500K, and you'll open the Philly market. He would be the potential future oc/hc.

Always impressed with his efforts at temple.

You sound like his agent. He is probably making around 150k right now.

What good players has he landed from Philly?

You're not going to see many names on the national site because he's primarily been the rc at Temple. However, in coaching circles he's known as the link at the school. He's young, he's a grinder, relates well to inner city kids, etc. He's been very instrumental in their recruiting. And, they recruit extremely well.

At Clemson, as some have pointed out, Dabo functions essentially as a CEO. He allows the coordinators to run the offense and defense, and basically he generally follows their recommendations on position coaches. That has worked pretty well I would say. It certainly helps that Dabo is one of the nation’s best recruiters too.

I would hope, Narduzzi gives Whipple essentially carte blanche on the WR coach, subject to making certain he is an ace recruiter. I’m not sure that would have been a requirement at UMass. And, some consideration should be given to the geographic areas where he has contacts. A guy who has recruited in the Rockies isn’t going to be a good fit, for example.

I like DiMichelle for 3 reasons:

1. As recruiting coordinator at Temple, they have had success identifying and developing under-the-radar players. He likely would help us in Eastern PA and NJ.

2. He originally is from McKees Rocks.

3. My family originally is from McKees Rocks.
