So, when wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman told Ford he needs to provide leadership for the young players in his position group — on and off the field — it seemed like a comparatively easy task for the 21-year-old senior. “I put it to him,” Sherman said, “and said, ‘This is your room. This is your group. This is your team. You have to bring these guys along. You have to bring one and bring another one.' “He looked me dead in the eye and said, ‘Yes, sir, I understand.' ”
