that was the preseason poll. we are currently 1and 5 in dual meets. we have looked pretty bad so far.
We're losing big to ranked teams and losing to teams we should beat like Bucknell & Clarion.
One way to gauge a team is measure wrestling team intensity by looking at the bout scores of each match.
You can tell a wrestling team is well coached when a team is missing a few talented wrestlers to put them in the win column but team bout scores are close top to bottom. That's not the case with Pitt since a large % of the wrestlers aren't competing, losing by big scores, giving up major decision, tech fall and fall bonus points.
Even without top talent, good wrestling coaches should be able to coach, and condition the wrestling athletes so they're competitive in most bouts, saving bonus points which can end up making matches close or shifting the team score into the win column.
This was Lyke's first Pitt coaching hire.
Mrs Buffett and I hope things improve since we're hugh HS and college wrestling fans.
We'll be attending the Lehigh match at Lehigh and the VT and NCSt matches in Pittsburgh.

Great response by Pitt wrestling today, as they take down #18 Oklahoma 19-18. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
