Pittsburgh is definitely known as a Big Ten market.

UNC/Miami will be on ESPN2 locally.

No shit Pittsburgh is a B10 market. It's where Pitt belongs. ACC football will never be looked at as an equivalent to the B10 from the Pittsburgh eye.

Why is this even a topic? The game that isn't on the local ABC station is shown on ESPN2. It's not 1991 anymore.

Because ABC and WTAE view Pittsburgh as a Big Ten Market, not an ACC one. I have an issue with that. The local team is in the ACC, not the Big Ten.

The TV markets immediately to the West (Youngstown) and East (Johnstown/Altoona/State College) are Big Ten markets so as far as ABC is concerned, yes Pittsburgh is in the Big Ten footprint.

So ABC and WTAE are showing a crappy Big Ten game over an important Coastal Division game because Pittsburgh is between Central PA and Eastern Ohio? Why not put on whatever game is of the most interest to the people who will actually watch?

Whether one believes PSU deserved the harsh sanctions, the crap with their fans should of been enough to of seen Pitt swapped out for PSU, and rivalries made for them with NW and Sparty.

Ah well....what could of been. Sheesh

The Pittsburgh market has never identified with the B10. Pittsburgh is considered an Eastern City, not Midwestern. Not saying it identifies with the ACC but certainly not the B10.

You are absolutely correct.

Thank you!

Why on earth would we have a rivalry with NW? I'm happy not to be OSU's whipping boy.

Living in Miami when UM joined the ACC, it was the same thing. The local ABC would show Michigan State v Purdue over UVA v UNC, which would be on ESPN2. That was gone after about 5 years. You won't see those Big Ten games trump ACC today anywhere in Florida.
