WTAE showing Pitt vs Syracuse instead of Mich @ OSU

Of course.. why wouldnt they?? We are in Pittsburgh

Absolutely correct. Besides, in the WTAE viewing area, Pitt fans will be in attendance at HF in person to see THEIR TEAM, the Panthers, play. So they wouldn't be able to watch the other game live anyways, right?

In the last 2 years, WTAE has picked the ABC national game over the 12:30 Raycom ACC game every single time EXCEPT for when Pitt plays in it so given the enormity of the Mich/OSU game and the huge ramifications it has for a team with 25,000 alums in Allegheny County (which is 50k less than Pitt), and the fact that its a home Pitt game which Pitt diehards will be at.....I figured there was a chance it would get relegated to thisTV.

There's a difference between when Pitt plays or another ACC team.

I'm not shocked what so ever at this choice.

Yep. Too bad for the "faux fans" of Pitt football. Who are they? The ones that live in the Pgh area and are physically able to come to home games but choose to freeload and watch Pitt home games (as well as OTHER games that likely interest them even more than Pitt games that are on at the same time as Pitt) on TV instead.

Imagine many of them don't invest a single penny in Pitt, buy even one ticket, or make any effort at all to come to HF to see Pitt play. But they'll then get on here and bitch, moan and whine about Pitt's attendance. Incredible gall. But they are also as transparent as window glass.

Kudos to WTAE in this case. I applaud their decision to promote and support the football program of the University that is the most essential and important to the greater PITTSBURGH area in so many ways.

How is this even a thread.

Could you imagine them not showing a steeler game because patriots vs Cowboys was on??

Here. I'll summarize now.

One of these fleabag teams will win 17-14 and the Fat 10 media will bloviate about how it was "one for the ages" and an "instant classic" and that both Ohio State and Michigan as well as Wisconsin, Penn State and Purdue should make the college football playoff. They'll lobby that the pool should be expanded to eight so that these five teams (and possibly Northwestern, because why the F not) should be included.

The game will then be showed all week on the Fat 10 Network, occasionally stopping to air Fat 10 Tonight and the women's tiddlywinks championship.

And then when all the bowl games have been played and the Over-Rated 12 lose all but 1 or 2 games, they'll say how rough their schedule was, and all the teams were so tired because they beat each other up all year. Look at the strength of schedule. You would think that such a great conference would have a winning percentage above40% over the last 30 years in bowl games, but not the Over-Rated 12!

I sure hope this doesnt stop anyone from going . My parents and others can watch in the family room but dont miss saturday and pretend to be a fan. IMO.

This is great so all the so called Pittsburgh Pitt fans, Alumni, and Students can stay home and watch it. But we need an on campus stadium. Losers

Even though I'm going to the game, I would be calling wtae non-stop if they showed the OSU-Michigan game. Pitt is the local team, that would be an atrocity to put any game on over theirs. Now the fact that the Pitt game is on wtae the same time as OSU-Michigan should be on abc is kinda odd, but I'm not really sure if they could've avoided that or not.

This will upset a lot of local Peds (and any local football fan who isnt necessarily a Pitt fan). "The Game" is on thisTV locally.
WTAM out of Johnstown will air the tOSU-UM game so many viewers in the Johnstown-Altoona area will get that game. What surprises me is that this game is a nooner instead of 3:30 or 7PM. Biggest game of the weekend and not in a better time slot.

It's played at noon every year. They won't play it at a different time.

Yeah, the tOSU/Michigan game seems to always be a noon start. There are other big games involving "name" teams played at noon (or earlier), too. The Red River rivalry between Texas & Oklahoma is played every year at the Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair. It starts at noon Eastern time, 11:00 AM Central time in Dallas.
