WVU not too far away from CFP

If they finish off TCU today, they will be 4 wins away from the CFP (not counting byes vs Kansas and ISU). They will probably be slight underdogs next week at OKST, which is their best chance at a loss. Besides that, Texas is on the road which is loseable but the Longhorns are a mess.

OU is in Morgantown and WVU will be favored. They could be 11-0 when Baylor comes to town in what could be the defacto Big 12 Championship game.

WVU will not be favored against Oklahoma

Huh? OU isnt that good this year and its in Morgantown. OU could win that game but WVU SHOULD win it.

It all comes down to next week I think. If Gibby's standout defense can limit OKST's pass game, they host Baylor at 11-0.

they run it and they arent in. the conference is awful and they have 8 home games and no tough road games. they are very good but they are not in the top 8 regardless of record. they have played one road game thus far.

Things just seem to be going WVU's way this year. Kinda crazy after losing some big talent on D. Maybe comparable to Iowa's improbable run last year? Except they sure as hell have a better shot at winning the Big 12 than Iowa did winning the Big 10 last year.

Of course, I'm hoping if they do keep it up they end up getting exposed when they actually have a tough game.

Yea, really good comparison with Iowa. I honestly dont think WVU is much better than us but they have a very favorable schedule and play in the weakest P5 conference this year.

If WVU or Baylor go 12-0 and the P12, SEC, ACC, and B10 produce undefeated champs, the B12 doesn't go but the chances of 5 undefeated P5 champions is very slim.

If that game were held today Oklahoma would probably be 3.5 to 4 point chalk at WVU.

That's exactly it. But you have to ask yourselves, why doesn't things go our way any year? WVU has a few of these. So do many teams. Pitt never does. Why?

Pitt fanboy cheerleaders who I have no use for may want to trash the Big 12 and WVU but again another year, alot of adversity for WVU this year and they are again well ahead of Pitt as a program.

I really wanted to believe last year could've been the year for Pitt at 6-1... but sure enough things hit equilibrium after those back to back losses to UNC and Notre Dame. Not like I was surprised by that as a Pitt fan of course.

Ok Jethro back to morganhole where your sorry ass belongs. You r a fan boy of cc and get very defensive of them. How many Pitt games do u attend? Asswipe

not ripping on baylor wvu or nebraska bc we would have blown 1 or 2 easy games but the teams they have played are awful. nebraska has hell to pay soon but big 12 is just awful period. i would put a 2 loss wisky team ahead of big 12.champ.

Good for WVU. I'd root for them if they get in the playoffs. I'm also happy to see that Shell found a school that ended up working out for him. I hope he gets a look next fall in an NFL camp.

Recruits - WVU has had 1 winning season in the Big 12 in the last 4 years and would have dumped Holgy in the off season last year if it wasn't for the $$ extension he was given a few years earlier. They are having a good season but to say that they are "well ahead" of Pitt is an exaggeration IMHO.

We go through this every single year. Posts on this board extolling the virtues of Holgy's coaching but it will be the first time in 5 years if WVU doesn't completely collapse end of season.

Pierre, let's face it, you sit there with a blue and gold skirt and pom poms hoping, Pitt goes 7-5 and a Birmingham bowl so you can tell yourself that Pitt is going in the right direction. 35 years. Rinse. Repeat. Sis Boom Bah. And you believe it every time.

Is WVU's conference weak? Sure? As was the Big East when they (and we) played in it. They had guts and at least would go and win it and be a national player, we would cower like pussies while people like you would self pleasure yourself remembering Tony Dorsett.

Sorry, if I can respect a team who can overcome adversity and take advantage of their schedule. We haven't done this again, for 35 years.

They historically take advantage of easy paths. We never do. Never. You can't get upset at them for taking advantage of the situation. We could easily be undefeated right now also. But we aren't because that is not who we are.

Even in basketball, they take advantage of things, we don't.

Again Recruits - they have collapsed the last 4 seasons in a row. How you can call them well ahead of Pitt is a bit head scratching. They are having a good year - for now.

Well, most years they've had to play three or four killer teams on the schedule.
I mean, 85% of this board pegged Oklahoma St as an automatic loss for us. Guess who plays them every year?

Recruits is right, they certainly have taken advantage of breaks over the years. Pitt sure hasn't.

That said, I expect wvu to lose to both Oklahoma schools.

We've beat the teams on our schedule.

What else can we do?

I was referencing previous years, but yes, I agree.

But that was his point.....Miami and vtech leave, you win the conference a few times. Pitt does nothing, even in years where Pitt doesn't have to beat you guys.

And in a year where a lot of big 12 teams, are down, you've gotten off to a decent start.

Gibson is one heck of a DC. That guy better be a HC somewhere next season. The only team to score more than 21 this season was BYU. They haven't allowed more than 17 points to any Big 12 team. That's insanity.

And in what scenario, in any universe does Pitt ever win?
Uh, that was his point.
Edit.....there was one time....2004....where Pitt got breaks and actually took advantage.

Contrast that to say,2010, where wvu inexplicably loses two games, and all Pitt has to do is beat scrappy uconn, usf, and cincy. Don't need to beat Wvu. We all know how that turned out.
