Good game, but WVU taking control in the 3rd OT and about to deal Dixon a bad loss on the resume.

I think they’re still good to get in. The bubble is incredibly weak this year (I know, we say that every year), and the 2 Iowa St wins were huge.

I think TCU still needs one more win though, and the closing schedule is really tough.

They very well could close out the year going 1-3 or 1-4 (including Big 12 tourney). That would put them squarely on the bubble. They’ve had a couple awful losses recently.

Normally I’d agree with this, but some of the teams being mentioned as bubble candidates this year (South Carolina, Texas, Clemson) are even worse. Just looking at the standings right now there are going to be some teams with lousy conference records getting bids and TCU will probably be one of them.

By the way LOL at SMF for saying that TCU losing Fisher was addition by subtraction.

Just got home from the game and it was a huge loss for Jamie.Wvu is terrible right now and the committee is going to take that into account.Wvu is down 4 starters that only beat Pitt by 10.

You s-ck Huggins, same for you officials, the same for your stupid Mountaineer Mascot, the ACC su-ks too, and I hate Barnes and SP.
Yea take that!
It's all boiling to the top.
Where's a chair I need to throw it across the court.
Yep that's what I'll do.

Pittsburgh s-cks too, to many bridges and a tunnel named after a squirrel, I don't care that they threw me out.

The games over, but I just called a time out??
The game can't be over.
I'll tell you when the games over? The games not over until I decide the games over.
The game is over when TCU has more points than WVU. Yea that's when the games over.
0.0 is when TCU is winning.Yep 0.0!
Officials I'm over here see me?
Everyone's ignoring me??
Hey officials over here you know I won the Big East once, yea , look it up,
I'm Jamie Dixon.

So Jamie is now 1-1 in 3OT games vs WVU. This is a really terrible loss for TCU. Their NET was solid at 41 going in and I woudnt expect it to fall too much but they finish with home games vs TT and KST and a road game at Texas. Win 2 if those 3 to finish at 8-10 and they are in. Lose 2 of 3 to finish at 7-11 they are out unless they make the titlw game in the B12 Tournament.

What's amazing about Jamie is he hasnt finished above .500 in conference since 2013-14. He is doing a great job at TCU but I think what we are seeing at TCU is more like Dixon II here. Inotherwords, a bubble program. That is great for TCU and should be good enough for Pitt. If Capel gets us back to Dixon II, Id be thrilled.

This is the most talent assembled on a roster that Dixon has coached in his life.

Then you’ll be more than thrilled if JC stays here long enough he will bring in enough good players to be at level above Dixon ll . Dixon l is asking too much .

Dixon II is good enough but yes, somewhere between Dixon I and Dixon II would be great. Like VT/FSU level. BTW, FSU has to have the worst basketball fanbase jn the country. There was no one in the upper deck for their win over ND monday

I've always been a Jamie Dixon fan but this TCU team shouldn't get into the tournament at the moment. They just lost to a 10-17 Wvu team and the kicker is Wvu was down 4 starter. This was a bad loss for Jamie.I'd say his only chance is win his last 3 and win one in the Big 12 tournament.

2-1 + 1 and hes in

2-1 + 0 and hes sweating

Jamie has lived on the bubble for the better part of a decade

Gil brown too who I think as far as far as raw athletic talent was one of the most talented.

Sure, but those five I named were all on the 2008-2009 roster and all were named All-Big East.

Right. These rosters are equal. Bane, Robinson and Noi will be pros.
Not even close. Go back and watch some games and remind yourself just how offensively gifted Sam Young was and what a dominant rebounder and post player Blair was. And while Levance wasn’t a great shooter, he could get drive the lane anytime he wanted and no one in college basketball that year could control a possession like Fields.

Only difference is he took over the worst p5 program at the time. They were awful. So bubble in 2.5 years is pretty good considering. I can see them missing or making this year, but long term I bet TCU sees itself in the upper half of b12.

Not really. He inherited a veteran team that lost a lot of games by playing a lot as freshmen and sophomores but did have soms talent that Trent Johnson recruited like that Euro center who was light years better than anything we've had since Adams.

The situation Jamie walked into would be more similar to a new coaching taking over for Capel next year with some talent left on the roster. It would be like saying "Coach XYZ took over the worst P5 program (Pitt) and now has them on the bubble." While that may be true, Pitt lost a ton with freshmen and those kids would now be older

Got news for everybody Jamie hasn’t forgotten how to coach . He wasn’t a better coach when he had Blair , Young , Gibbs etc . he just had better players . It’s amazing how that works , isn’t it .
Ps ..no one wins without talent and it must be a coincidence that the best programs have the best coaches and they also have the best players .

Guys notice I said program. And tbh his seniors that first year at tcu were not anything to write home about. I do not know how you guys can pretend that tcu was not the worst or at least worst 3-4 p5 teams. 0 history, no tourney since 98. Pitt fans are an odd bunch hahaha . He aint setting it on fire. But , hes done and has always done better than most.

Dixon left a sinking program and joined a rising program. I think you can state it as simply as that.

A rising program? Maybe it is rising because he is there?
They won 0, 4, and 2 games the 3 previous years.

I know you guys have your anti Dixon agenda, but this idea that almost immediately started that TCU was on the rise and Dixon tookover a talented team is nothing more than a myth that was created by people like you who thought he was a bad excuse, thought he was easily replaceable, then made you look like fools.

I try to avoid these Dixon threads, I really do, but nobody said TCU was a rising program in February 2016.

It is an absolutely absurd statement, and it started almost immediately when Dixon greatly exceeded expectations almost immediately. Just a bunch of people pushing the narrative that Dixon sucked and they needed an excuse we he took over a 2 win team and won the NIT, and stallings took over a tourney team and crashed the program.

It's all good. Pretty meaningless debate.

I think a program that had just invested $80M into upgrading their basketball arena and then was willing to invest big money in a Head Coach and staff would be my definition of 'up-and-coming'. They had two high-grade incoming transfers sitting on the bench Trent Johnson's last year as well. I think it was a similar situation to when Pitt opened the Pete.

Was TCU up-and-coming from a W/L perspective the preceding few years? Absolutely not - can't argue that.

If wins are all that matters then wtf are you arguing? Dumb take. He isnt setting it on fire this year for sure: but next year he will have senior bane and junior noi along with an improving center and good talent coming in.
