The Mountaineers up on KU. If they win that, ,they've got a shot at a protected seed. We may have them in our backyard.

If they get a 4 seed, they'll be here or columbus.

cannot figure out how they are winning so many games

Can't remember the seedings, but WVU was placed at Consol last go around. It was delicious watching the Zags dominate them.

I was thinking about that, here are the obvious spots for protected seeds:

Louisville---UK
Charlotte----UVA, duke
Pittsburgh--Nova
Jacksonville---Louisville,
Omaha---Kansas, Wichita?
Columbus---Wisconsin, ND?
Seattle--Gonzaga
Portland--zona, Utah?

Probably WVU or Maryland to consol.

Could be moot.

WVU blew a 14 point lead by only scoring 19 second half points.

KU, despite 0-15 from 3, has forced overtime.

They were like a 10 seed, zags were a 7.
That's right - I remember how ridiculous it was having Gonzaga come cross country to play the higher seed that is 90 minutes away.

ft shooting doesn't matter
Nobody has ever said FT shooting doesn't matter.

It just matters less than

1. Offensive efficiency
2. Defensive efficiency
3. Rebound margin
4. Assist to turnover ratio
5. Effective FG%
6. Defensive effective FG%

After those things, FT shooting matters next.

Most people have Maryland at Consol. Though, I think you could see a Maryland/WVU 3/6 game on Saturday.

If you lose a close game and you shoot 50% from th FT line and your opposition shoots 80%, it mattered. A lot. Despite what the new Basketball Mathanalysts try and rewrite....it is simple.

Save up your old batteries! Just kidding!

The Hoopies have lots of old batteries from their transistor radio's.

Go Pitt!

Cc blew an 18 pt lead and doesn't deserve another Consol visit. That is just ridiculous to place them 90 miles away from morganhole. The NCAA always takes care of them for the tourney. Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, DC and Syracuse just to name a few easy travels for those assholes. PITT is still paying for that Civic Arena placement. Jerry West has major clout for the moonshiners. JMO

Morgantown isn't even that far. Morgantown is only about 5 miles south of the state line, and it's 59 miles from there to the Parkway West. 70 miles total tops. Of course the actual distance is 55 miles.

If you lose a close game and get beat in defensive rebounds, it mattered.

If you lose a close game and get beat in offensive rebounds, it mattered.

If you lose a close game and missed field goals, it mattered.

If you lose a close game and gave up field goals, it mattered.

If you lose a close game and had turnovers, it mattered.

What's your point?

One more made 3-pointer in the game accomplishes as much as three more FTs.

Another example why missed FTs can be misleading was in Pitt's last game.... at one point in the game, Pitt was 1-for-4 on FTs... but had scored 6 points in the attempts. How? On Cam's first miss, Pitt got a rebound and a putback. On his second miss, Pitt got a rebound and a kickout to Artis for a three. If he makes both of those FTs, Pitt is 3-for-4 (75%) and scored 3 points in the attempts.... Pitt was better off being 1-for-4 (25%) and scoring 6 total points.

Any time a close game is lost.... *ANY* field goal missed by you or made by the other team is worth way more. In this most recent Pitt loss... I would rather have had Mike's 5 missed layups than get back Cam's missed FTs.

It *IS* simple. A team that is 50% in FG and 50% from the line will beat a team that is 40% in FG and 75% from the line every time.

What about a team that shoots 46% in field goals and 76% from the line vs a team that shoots 35% from the field and 80% from the line? Seems like a slam dunk based on your tried and true "every time" analogy....I'll let you be the one to inform UIC that the lost last night against Wright State even though the final score said otherwise.
