...........Given all of the upheaval, this year’s schedule provides zero favors. Road games at Penn State and Georgia Tech make for a tough September, along with a home date vs. Oklahoma State as well. North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Miami wrapping up the November slate also increase the level of difficulty during the stretch run. Narduzzi’s in no danger, but this could be a rebuild year for Pitt....................

Syracuse has a football team?

Who knew?
Babers is a good coach and has 2 Great QBS and Cuse and Pitt are usually good games and 38-31-3! I am a tad worried this could be a Cuse Bushwhacked Game, just me, others can differ. Even with Cuse Predictions picking Pitt?

Cuse help Pitt be invited to Big East and stayed without leaving with VT, Miami and BC, and together both got into the ACC! The Toughest game in 1976 that almost beat Pitt was Cuse too......Not ND, Penn State, WVU or Georgia!

My memory of the initial ACC raid on the Big East was that the ACC wanted Syracuse to join Va Tech and Miami. It was Miami (at the time, one of the best teams in the country) who wanted BC. It was then going to be Miami, Syracuse and BC. The ACC wanted Syracuse ahead of Va Tech.

The Governor of Virginia then got involved and said that UVA would vote no unless Va Tech was included.

Miami, Va Tech, and then either BC or Syracuse were going to be the ones. Miami wanted BC, so BC it was.

Syracuse would have gone in a heartbeat it they were invited.

All accurate except one item left out. VT President after the ACC Invites actually in the BEC first meeting asked all BEC Presidents to sigh Binding Agreements and said let only Miami go and that way keep BC & CUSE. And add new Schools.

But all BEC Presidents refused and VT took it on itself to go to Virginia Governor and with UVA Vote and Duke & UNC saying no to expansion they needed one more vote. As you say, VT replaced Cuse. BC played a Double Game for a year but left later.

I thought at the Time, both Leagues should have just merged right there. Temple was being ousted by BEC Trangahese about that time and thought he was a fool. BC, Miami, VT, Pitt, CUSE ended up anyway, and ULou later too. I thought it should have been WVU & Rutgers too!

I would move Miami out of Coastal and add Cuse!

Yes, I did forget about the Va Tech request for a binding agreement.

The ironic thing is that the Big East made Va Tech football.

Prior to joining the Big East, save for a few years, they weren't on today's ECU level.

"RaleighPittFan, post: 1909322, member: 44234"]Yes, I did forget about the Va Tech request for a binding agreement.
Many forget about it, but Vt had selfish motives, but then, BEC Paid out Money based on allowing each Program keep 40% of the Bowl Money and in this way, VT would be the BCS Bowl Selection more often without Miami. Shows the College Presdients were selfish too. VT joining ACc did not add another Market either they already had VA, losing Cuse lost NY!

The ironic thing is that the Big East made Va Tech football.
Yep, Frank Beamer 10 Win Season over a 10 year period and playing in BCS NCS Game in 1999 led to building up the VT Program biggest in Attendance in BEC and Top 25 and top 10 a number of Times.

Yep, they were the Penn State of 1960s winning 10+ games and developing a Program. By 2000, there were articles that said VT passed PSU in Eastern football as the Big Ten hurt PSU Wins. Pitt actually was a thorn in VT back then too, beating them at times 2000-2003.

The article was condescending toward Pitt. It ignores THE FACT. that Pitt has owned them over the last 15 years.
And...they have stunk....

Agree and Disagree a tad, Agree Pitt has had a better record the last 10 years favors Pitt like you say 9-1. Those games were close 10 points or less. From 1984 to 2004 Cuse owned Pitt going 17-3-1 and winning 13 Consecutive Wins with 10 of those games 10 points or less. Even Cuse broke Penn State over Pitt 12 Consecutive Wins and Pitt beat PSU 15 Consecutive Wins and Pitt had 11 Consecutive Wins over Cuse.

What I respect is that Syracuse has mostly been a Basketball School but always stayed by Pitt side unlike PSU or WVU. Cuse has always been a big part of Pitt Collegiate Competition. Howland-Dixon took them on in Basketball as well and they resented the way Pitt played what Cuse Fans called Garbage. In reality Syracuse was the biggest Allied of Pitt to get into it being a Cuse Founder in Big East in Basketball, stood by BEC over ACC Expansion, and help make BEC better in Basketball that led ACC to grab Pitt, with Cuse, and ULou, ND too.

I for one am grateful and enjoy Pitt-Cuse Independent, Big East & ACC Relationships. But you are correct Pitt has beaten them the last 10-15 years more, but together had more tougher wins when they play each other. They always worry me, others can differ! I am glad Pitt-Cuse did go to the ACC together in 2010.

At least Pitt-Syracuse stayed together since 1955!

This author is the president of the Troy Nunes fan club. I take what he says with a grain of salt.
He should join forces with the UConn tool who totally fabricated the "ND football joining the ACC" article as an excuse to whine about UConn getting hosed by the ACC. And the NW idiot who wrote the "Tier" article and put the entire Big Ten in the top tiers.
