Good decision. You really shouldn't pass up on college bball money unless you are a lottery pick. Take the $3 million, free food, free housing for half the work as the NBA.

He was projected as a late first round pick, which would give him a lower salary this upcoming season but NBA contracts for first rounders have 2 years guaranteed.

He has to be assuming he'll go higher the next year, or just wants to eliminate the risk of falling out of the first round.

You know how the draft works too… projected late first round is like mid 2nd when it’s all said and done. 30 guys get late 1st round grades.

Great choice staying.

Unfortunately the tourney and its unpredictability are probably going to be chalk chalk and more chalk moving forward as the gap gets larger with the haves and have nots.

Good decision on the young man’s part for both educational and financial reasons. But, from Michigan’s standpoint—$3 million for basically a one-year semi-pro contract???

His stock really rose and was seen as a sure-fire 1st Rounder but late in the 1st. Still a good decision though. He is probably going to make more at Michigan than had he stayed in the draft. The #23 pick last year got $2.9 million and that doesn't come with free food and housing that college does. And its less than half the work.

Reports are they have spent at least 10 mill of NIL money on their 4 premium incoming transfers and they have loaded up, in addition to a strong HS class including McDonald's AA Trey McKinney.

What does Michigan care about how much it costs? It's all outside donor money and they have a bottomless pot of that.

In this new era, more than ever, the rich get richer, the poor are powerless.

First round as in the guy Tequilia Cowboy ordering drinks for everybody at the bar?

You'd be shocked at how much guys are making. I am very surprised, actually, that this much donor money is going to college basketball but what a country we live in. We have 3rd world poverty and also guys who have so much money that they cannot realistically spend it all, so they buy basketball players for their Alma mater.

Pitt is spending around $5 million on NIL so you can do the math on how much even guys on average teams are making. Corhen is probably $750k and everyone wants to run him out of here.

Oh, yeah. Big time. The world needs way more Communications and Criminal Justice degrees out in the workforce. Let's stop pretending any of this is in any way good for educational purposes. 50% of these guys would be unemployed or working minimum wage gigs if it weren't for athletics.

From what source did you get the $5 million figure? Just curious.

Some friends in the college coaching circles. That was last year from what I was told. I’m not sure what they have to work with this coming year but I doubt it changed too much.

I posted this back around NCAA tourney time, but of the 16 Sweet 16 teams, the lowest NIL budget was $6 million and that was Purdue. That’s what I was told. I’m sure there is some difference between sources about the definition of “NIL Budget”.
