As much as I would love to believe this, I have a hard time.

It’s a nothing burger. Won’t affect recruiting at all. Oscar had issues last season. He smoked way too much pot in the summer and was out of shape (something he admits in the story). His handlers really hate Huggs and this story isn’t good for Oscar. Bob Huggins made a mistake of commenting on him earlier this season but this story is bulls***.

As if Huggs would have an issue with a kid being a player on the dating circuit….or even smoking some pot. Something people don’t realize is that Huggs gives his players lots of leeway and freedom but you sure as hell better come to the gym ready to work.

I’m a firm believer in Malcolm Gladwell’s “Blink” in moments like this when you have to try and determine the truth. It’s also a big part of my career in the industry I work in. My very first inclination was that this is obviously not truthful…..and when I received the tweet a bit ago I thought for sure that I might be on O’s side because Huggs made a mistake mentioning him after the loss earlier this season.

I like Huggins. So does it seem most of his players. So this seemed out of character.

O’s handlers didn’t feel Huggs could develop his offensive game…a very legitimate concern. The problem is that I’m not so certain anyone could develop him, offensively. He’s not that type of player. He’s dominant on the glass and generates much of his offense from brute force. His hand eye coordination is good, not great. He doesn’t have a shot. He could develop a shot possibly but I wouldn’t hold breath. I still think he’s a good fit for Cal. Sucks that he didn’t stay at WVU as we could really use his rebounding. However, I truly believe the part where he just wasn’t happy. My guess is that he’s a good kid but immature.

The problem is that Huggs doesn’t give AF and when the handlers hear Huggs throwing shade at them (moreso than Oscar), they use Oscar to spew this bullsh**. It’s so abundantly false especially after reading the “girls and smoking weed” part. Huggs HATES the hanger-ons of higher level recruits in college hoops. It’s why he rarely recruits them and looks for junkyard dogs instead.

Again, it wont affect recruiting at all unless some other sort of story emerges.

This falls into the category of "Who cares".
Agree with this. I also think it makes the author look bad as well. “He said, she said” BS with a HOF coach who is loved, universally, by the people that matter most in this industry….other head coaches.

It's a one-off thing and nothing that Huggins has done in the past would indicate a trend that he does what this kid says he did. I don't like wvu at all, but I do like Huggins as a coach.

Yeah this all seems very far fetched, though the Huggy lie detector would be amazing.
