Think about it, for the countless times year after year, decade after decade us fans have wished Pitt could be a top 10-15 program consistently - Pitt has more often than not disappointed.
Hell the annoying term PITTING has become etched in some fans vocabulary and its not a complimentary word.
But even in the JMII years, Pitt didn't lose 10 games. No, the last time a Pitt football team lost 10 was before I was even born, 1972. Think about that for a minute. Even when Pitt has been an afterthought in college football for so many years, no Pitt team lost 10 games in over 50 years.
So when that soon happens(which it almost certainly will), this is a level of bad that will take YEARS to recover from. How do you recruit the players needed to win when a coach in his 9th year just came off a 2-10 record? My guess is there is going to be a mass exodus of players leaving soon after the season ends. How do you recruit to the level needed when that happens? The coaching is a complete mess. How do you recruit to the level needed when Narduzzi has a terrible track record with offensive coordinators for the most part, and wants to continue to live in the 1970's?
Pretty short answer, you don't recruit well.
Going from an ACC Championship to 2-10 in 2 seasons is inexcusable. It just is. There is nothing anyone can say from coaches to players to the AD to the upper Pitt mgmt to the fans, that can justify this level of terrible awful embarrassing football.
Sure there will be the usual few Pollyanna's on here trying to convince us that Narduzzi will turn it around and it's only 1 bad year. No, I'm sorry that doesn't cut it when you finish 2-10.
I will say it now and I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will find this thread to show everyone, but there is no way Narduzzi can turn this program around in the next few seasons. And yes he got that fortunate contract extension which buys him at least 1 more year. But next season will almost definitely be more of the same and Pitt will at that point have to cut bait. Even if he gets 2 more seasons he ain't turning this program around.
The Narduzzi era needs to be over as soon as possible or we are gonna be stuck with a bottom feeder football program for the foreseeable future until he's gone.
