That the Big Ten did? Should the ACC do that every once in awhile? I like it though I'd do it Thursday-Monday or Friday-Tuesday to limit the amount of time teams sit idol before the NCAAT. But Michigan made the Championship after winning the B10T at MSG so maybe the time off isnt a bad thing.

The ACC has a lot of problems and I don't think playing in NYC is the be all end all but its one of a list of changes I think they need to make become more competitive. If it were me, I'd play in NYC twice in a 4 year period:

Year 1: MSG week before
Year 2: Greensboro
Year 3: Brooklyn
Year 4: DC, Atl, or Charlotte rotation

The issue with playing at MSG/NYC is that the ACC is always going to be 2nd fiddle to the Big East. The league is down, but even with the media circus around K’s retirement you’re not seeing the type of hype that the tournament usually sees/deserves.

Just keep the tournament down south. It’s never going to be convenient for us but by playing in the Carolinas/Georgia/VA/etc you can generate some energy due to the proximity to a lot of member schools. NYC just seems forced for the ACC.

Well, there's no buzz in large part due to the league being the worst its ever been.

I think people overrate the atmosphere when its in NC. When an NC team isnt playing, the place is empty.

Playing it in a location that is central to the majority of the league is best for business. Playing in NYC is like a destination wedding, it’s making a small group happy and the rest are either inconvenienced or don’t show up.

The event is sold-out so that part of it isnt bad for business. Also, I don't agree that the southern schools dont want it in NYC some of the time. I would guess almost every one of them want NYC in the rotation since everyone recruits that area. Now, if it was Greensboro vs NYC permanently, yea the NC schools and some others would vote Greensboro

It should be in DC (or maybe Atlanta) every year. Staying in one spot that is centrally located is the way too go. Moving it around or keeping it in Greensboro relegates it to bush league and 2nd fiddle.

DC or Charlotte is the move. NY makes no sense
I agree. The Big East’s identity is the tournament at MSG. You can’t just take that identity and make it your own.

The problem is that the ACC’s identity was Greensboro, but Greensboro has certain limitations that make it less than ideal for the way the conference is structured in 2022. Charlotte and DC don’t have those problems, and either one would be a perfect fit in terms of facilities, support, and geography. Probably Charlotte, as much as I like the idea of it being in DC, but I don’t like the rotation of different sites every year.

The Big East should be at MSG, the Big Ten should be in Chicago, the SEC should be in Atlanta, the Pac-12 should be in LA, the Big 12 should be in Dallas or Houston, and the ACC should be in DC or Charlotte. This doesn’t need to be hard.

Atlanta is an SEC town and a terrible sports town. I definitely wouldn't do that.

I don't think the central location matters much. Besides the NC schools and Clemson, there's probably more ACC fans within a 90 minute drive of NYC than any ACC city simply due to the mass population there.

With the ACC spanning the whole East coast, I dont think they should limit it to Charlotte or DC. The ACC has issues and it cant hurt to play its tournament in different markets.

LA hates college basketball. Those Pac 12 games were drawing like 2000 people. They needed to move out of there.

Yeah, I’ll amend that. Las Vegas is a great location for the Pac 12 tournament. I was just thinking of NBA cities in the conference footprint and didn’t think of Las Vegas.

The ticket prices tonight for the Two tournaments tell the story. Over 200 to get in the door at MSG vs. around 50 for Barclays with both marquee brands playing. Just not a great narrative for the conference

Nova/UConn with an all-time bestish PC squad from the up the road make for one of the best Fridays at MSG in years.

True, the secondary market ticket prices for the Big East is higher but both games are sold out so not sure how that's a bad look for the ACC.
