Today, i noticed the difference between how Pitt warms up and how UVA warms up. At the same time that UVA was doing drills to work on 15 foot shots, first off the backboard and then straight in, Pitt was doing its 3 man weave where people like Cameron Johnson and Sterling Smith worked on their slam dunks. Those guys should never work on their slam dunks until they have hit like 15 jump shots in a row. It's no wonder Pitt can't shoot well. The practice poorly. There were so many clankers in warm up that the poor shooting was not at all surprising.
I am such a fan that I show up occasionally an hour before game time to watch the "warm up before the warm up." It is then that they really screw around and it is not a new phenomenon. It goes back at least to the Gilbert Brown era and maybe before that. It's a time when they could be working hard, over and over, on shooting the shots they are likely to get in the game, both stand still and on the move.
Not on the subject but equally annoying is the propensity of Artis and Young to dribble, dribble, dribble. UVA passes the ball and the discipline of doing that opens people up.
Finally, while am at it, how in the world is it possible for a guy to dribble directly thru that crap zone that Pitt plays like that guy did today?
I am a ten year season ticket holder who didn't even go to Pitt. All of the donations I have had to make to Pitt to keep club level seats, plus the price of the tickets themselves, are simply no longer worth it because, as an acquaintance said, mediocrity is no fun.
