1/2 of you sound like idiots.

Though I think a lot of this is just trolling.

My thoughts in a nutshell.

- If Dixon wanted to be here, he would be here.
- The Miller stuff is downright embarrassing, please STOP
- I look forward to a change
- Ben Howland wasn't exactly a household name and that turned out well.
- If any of you ever interviewed anyone for anything, I think a 30 hour turn around is a bit quick
- 99.9% of the information out there are rumors with no legs.
- And remember to unplug from Message Boards, Twitter, etc. for at least 8 hours a day

That is all

Well said. Sage advice my man.

Most of what is on twitter and message boards is lies and fabrications. When you read it, think the opposite and you'll probably be right. Like George Costanza.

The Miller stuff was embrassing and it went national!
I got some jabs from our Nitter neighbors and out of state friend reminding us about PITT's extensive experience in failed coach searches even though that took place in football.

Nitter motto: Never waste a PITT Crisis - PITT unfavorable PR

Lets find a great coach and move on!

Ger er done!

Why would the Millers put that out there? Even if there was zero interest, why not try to use it as leverage for a sweeter deal with their current employers?

I can understand Sean with AZ, that's a good P5 job in a great weather place, where they probably allow you to "do whatever it takes" to recruit, but tell me all you smart people, how is Dayton, a better job than Pitt in the ACC?

Archie Miller reportedly has total yearly compensation in the $2.5M range. Dayton BB is the only game in town. He is a rock star. He is 37 trying to build his resume for a top tier job. Dayton plays in a conference that is much easier to win in than the grind of an ACC gauntlet.

Not saying Dayton is a better job than Pitt but for Miller it's better for him at this point of his career...or at least he thinks so

Only speculating here, but my guess is that Archie is being proactive and Pitt had no interest in him. Only Sean

Better is subjective.

I would question the coaching ability of anyone who would prefer to stay at a mid-major than go to a P5 school. To me, that would mean they fear their abilities to recruit and win against the big boys. They are comfortable where they are. Well, then they can stay there.

Just my opinion.

Where are you getting that figure? They only thing I could find suggested his salary is in the $650K range.

Really? You think there was time to do that?
Well, I don't know, but little by little it is leaking out that this didn't start this past weekend nor did Barnes just contact Miller in the last 36 hours.

One of the added benefits I had going on yesterday was that I was in meetings for a good part of the day and in my car so I had no choice but to NOT be 100% obsessed (maybe only 85% haha).

I doubt we'll every know exactly what happened with Miller. I still believe there was a little more going on than next to nothing. I have a couple of people who I know who really are connected and they were hearing things in that direction.

Beyond that, I was surprised to learn how many people I know who know someone who knows a "high powered booster."

if there were as many high powered boosters as claimed to be acquaintances of Lair posters, we would have enough money to build a new Pitt stadium by now.

I don't know any high powered boosters, you don't have to be a high powered booster to be in meetings with Scott Barnes talking about who to hire as BB coach.

TD, there were Dayton posters...in some thread somewhere ( they all merge together during times like this) indicating that that is the part of his compensation that is public, but the balance comes from a private source(s) they're not obligated to disclose as a private university

The Miller fiasco as some are putting it, has nothing to do with what Barnes or what Pitt did or didn't do. Pitt has done nothing wrong with this search. They have said nothing as they should. The quieter it is the better off as to not tip our hand. This was all on the media and the rush to be the one who broke the news. I like what Paul Zeise said that for about 15 minutes he had felt awful wondering how he could not know any of this Miller stuff. His boss probably wondered too.

Not sure why some feel that since Sean could not be persuaded to come to Pitt that no matter who else we get it is a failure. Sean has not been a part of Pitt for many years. Archie never was tied to Pitt and frankly there are a number of coaches like Archie out there. Can't lose what you never had but kudos to Barnes if he at least asked if he was interested. And if he didn't good for him for doing what he believes is best for Pitt.

It's true the media should have vetted the info properly, but it's not like they made it up. "People" were clearly talking.

That's 100% true too.

and quite frankly Scott Barnes wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't at least reach out to Sean Miller.....I suggest everyone read Paul Zeise's blog, I agree with every word of it
