Knight as well. An out there guy is green Bay Wisconsin coach who has one year experience but they scored tons of points

If our final 4 is enfield, drew, darner, or Holtmann, I'm not saying I'd be thrilled, but all 4 are decent candidates who each do something I like.

If it's longeran, I'll vomit

I like him better than Lonergan, Greenburg, Knight, Antigua, Willard and some other names mentioned. The guy is a proven winner.

If you are gonna gamble Barnes, gamble with him. Darner easily the biggest boom/bust candidate out there, but he wins, and in his first year at Green Bay, they make the dance.

He's been a coach one year and is only one NCAA appearance behind longeran.

Zeise says green Bay is run and gun. Averaged 83.7 points per game.

Little d1 experience and no recruiting in ACC both negatives

Pitt doesn't believe Butler coach would leave.

Chapel being talked about but unknown if there is mutual interest from him

-Ive heard about this guy from a number of places, but do not know much about him. He's got a D2 National Championship 2 years ago and was National coach of the year. 1 Ncaa Tournament appearance in 1 year with a Conference Championship. 2 Big turnaround performances, but not done overnight like Keatts. Looks pretty solid so far, but have to research him a lot deeper, dont know his recruiting connections.

I don't see a recruiter in the bunch. Sickening.

The thought would be that Dunk City and Sunday dinners cooked by Mrs. Enfield would sell pretty well.

Also, all things equal, Drew has done well recruiting but he has no East Coast ties. He'd have to have a plan to recruit the NE.

Dunk City would be great....if Enfield still ran anything close to that at SC.

Still, you could probably sell it and get fans out. Pittsburgh won't know any better.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If this is what it's come to any of the 4 you named are at least satisfactory.

You don't need Zeise for this, many Wisconsin GB games were on tv this year. It wasn't only their style, scoring was high in the Horizon this year. Pitt should be able to do better than Darner, but he certainly isn't the worst candidate in the discussion.

I like Enfield. He turned around the dumpster fire at USC. He has recruited well and if he stays they will make noise in the PAC12 and in the NCAA next year.

Hes a guy who I think could have some success next year with Pitts roster

Enfield would be a huge get. I don't think people realize what a disaster USC was three years ago. He has 6 years experience as an NBA assistant and 6 as an ACC assistant at FSU. Not to mention he is known as "the shot doctor" as one of the game's best shooting specialists. Frankly, I'm surprised he would be interested in leaving LA but if Pitt can land him I'd love to see what he could do for the current roster next season.

-This guy is actually intriguing. He took over a crappy Florida Gulf team and took them to the Sweet 16 in 2 years. He did the same thing at USC, complete rebuild in 3 years, getting them to the NCAA's. He has preached up-tempo pace but obviously needs the players to play it. He has a pair of Top 100 guards coming into USC. His team was ok this year, lost to Providence by 1 point in the first round in a choke finish, but has every single player in the entire rotation coming back next year. Proving you can win on opposite sides of the coast is impressive. He preaches shooting, and his team shot the 3 well this year. Fairly young at 46. This guy may be better than I originally thought.

And most importantly has those necessary "local ties".

In all seriousness I don't think people realize what a dumpster fire the USC program was a couple years ago. Enfield may not have recreated Dunk City, but I heard at least one announcer mention that USC led the nation in dunks this year.

They were essentially BC before he got there. He did a good job for sure.

They were a little better than that. Tim Floyd and OJ Mayo hurt them, but they've always been a prominent program in one of the 2 or 3 best recruiting hotbeds in the country.

As I said, I think he's our best option -- but considering the only viable programs in Cal recently have been UCLA, Cal, and USC and California is a fantastic basketball state, color me concerned that most of his success has come in recruiting California kids to SC.

-USC was 6-26 in 2012 followed by wins vacated. They were 10 feet in the grave at that point.

Enfield began his coaching career in the NBA, serving as the shooting coach for the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons (1994-95 and 1995-96). He then was an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics for two seasons (1998-99 and 1999-2000).

Through his company All Net Basketball, he was a player development consultant for NBA teams and players, focusing on improving shooting technique and offensive skills. Enfield played four seasons (1987-88 through 1990-91) at Johns Hopkins, scoring a program-record 2,025 career points. He set the NCAA all-divisions career free throw percentage record (92.5, hitting 431-of-466 shots). He was a Division III All-American third teamer in 1991 and was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.

He was a GTE Academic All-America first team selection as a senior and second teamer as a junior. He was the first basketball player at Johns Hopkins to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was named the NABC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 1991. USC has always had cycles where they've been down pretty bad and then the recover for a few years, typically make a nice little run in the tournament, then fall back again. The cycle just keeps repeating itself. It's hard to be down for long when you're in the middle of Los Angeles.

That said, if this is the list (quite unimpressive as it is), then Enfield actually is a no brainer, which days more about the list than Enfield himself. But the question is if he'd actually leave Southern California for Pittsburgh.

It doesn't seem like it would be hard to make it at USC. Make the tournament more often than not, win a game there every once in a while, and you can keep that job for years. Even their own fans don't expect to outshine UCLA. Obviously a fertile recruiting area with enough players to go around.

No idea why Enfield would want to leave after finally getting the program poised for success. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and fondly remember my time there, but can't imagine relocating back if I had a solid job in Southern California.

I would puke if Drew got the job. Yeah, IMO would be about as good a choice as.... Woody.

Is Steve Pederson still running the show?

Enfield is the only good candidate there. But, he may just be playing it for a salary hike at USC. Dixon did that a lot it seemed.

Lonergan?? You muse be kidding me... but IMO even HE would be better than Drew.

Barnes said he was gonna make a big splash so IMO he probably wants Enfield.

Zara, you do know that Enfield made $100+ million on Wall Street and "retired" to his passion, basketball, right?

He's NOT playing some AD for a raise. That's peanuts to him. He's doing what HE wants to do. Maybe the ACC challenge intrigues him. Maybe he stays in warm weather and a fertile recruiting area where his model wife can find work.

He is probably the best candidate but I'm not so sure our roster is a match for his style. He likes shooters.

Roster ain't squat without a good guard & big man, they all like to shoot & nothing else. It would be same ol same ol.
