Zone takes away some of the aggressiveness of the players and makes it tougher to snag defensive rebounds especially if only a few guys have the bulk to block out. Zone does wind the shot clock, make dribble penetration more difficult and save fouls.

Man to man as Pitt now plays it switches on every pick rather than hedging. Especially with a small lineup Pitt rarely gets into a quickness disadvantage, but you do find Trey often caught in the paint on a big. Rebounding should be better as the responsibilities are more clear, but size and strength mismatches are more evident. Speaking of Trey he got lost a few times on D, looked like Stevenson last night

So with Syracuse, you have got to take Battle out of the game, only McGowans, Davis and Toney have a chance in Man, I am afraid our zone is too short to force him out of his comfort area. So it seems Man is the better choice unless you combine the two and play a box and one, let Howard, Buddy and the forwards try and beat you.
