1889-1907 Pitt was known as Western University of Pennsylvania "WUP"

1889 was the beginning of what we now know as Pitt Panthers Football! I'm mainly typing this up due to extreme boredom, but figured it'd be kind of interesting to share. Between 1889 and 1907, the Panthers posted a total record of 73-64-4 (.517%) and played a total of 141 games. 1889's inaugural and only game in that humble beginning was a lone loss to Shadyside Academy. Pitt (aka WUP) had some great seasons; quite specifically 1904 when the program had their first ever undefeated season going a perfect 10-0-0 under head coach Arthur Mosse, outscoring their opponents 406-5! 1905 was another great year for the Panthers with an 11-2-0 record also under Mosse.
