The Derrick Davis portal entry is obviously very interesting. I think there was a pretty clear understanding even before he officially entered the portal that Pitt was a priority destination, so there could be some quick movement over the next few days.
At the same time, it's going to be interesting to see where Davis plays at his next stop. Even when he was in high school at Gateway, there was some skepticism about his ability to project as a DB at the next level. At LSU, he played mostly on special teams, but in his final game with the Tigers, he played running back and carried the ball five times for 28 yards.
I've heard from several sources tonight that if Davis does transfer to Pitt, it very well could be as an offensive player. We've seen Pitt kick the tires on a few transfer running backs; could Derrick Davis end up being that guy?
