Breaking News - Stiller Game Postponed

We needed this game to be played in a blizzard. I'd be pissed if I laid some money on this with that expectation.

Yeah, but they've been talking about doing this for a few days, so if someone bet a lot of money under the assumption that it wasn't going to get changed they really don't have anyone to blame but themselves.

Looks like DraftKings took it down, so I have to imagine the numbers will change substantially and at least some people could get screwed.

I honestly hadn't heard about this being a possibility, but it's been a busy week at work so bitching about the happenings on the Lair is about the only "news" I've had time for.

It amuses me that that story (at the moment) is literally four sentences long, two of which are direct quotes from the governor's twitter account, and yet the story has two people on the byline.

"OK, I'll write the first sentence and then you write the second one, and then we'll quote the governor and call it a day."

"Yeah, sounds good to me."

It was a couple days ago that they declared this weekend was some kind of level one weather emergency, which I think is like a warning that a bad storm was coming but no travel restrictions or anything like that, and there was talk that they should/would declare a state of emergency, which would mean non-essential people should stay off the roads and would make it so that they couldn't play the game.

It screws me personally as the game will now be played at 1:30 PST so I either have to take a day off work or just leave in the middle of the day.

Wagering wise I’m more inclined to think better weather might actually help the Steelers, which is contrary to the long held belief that bad conditions make the game more equal and favor the underdog. If the Steelers have a shot to win I think they need to get the ball deep multiple times, and high winds/snow will negate that. On the other side no QB in the league is better suited to poor weather than Josh Allen with his big arm and years of experience in Buffalo and Wyoming.

Im not sure what the rules are in different states, but in Nevada if there is a change in day or venue for a game it is taken off the board and all bets are refunded. Then it is put up under a new rotation number with whatever odds the book chooses to open with, It won’t affect anyone betting the side that much as the number has bounced between 9.5 and 10, but anyone that was ahead of the drop on the total will be screwed as the new number will open up at less than whatever they got. Same deal for anyone that bet under on some of the props before they dipped.

It's football. Its snow. Play the game.
Probably not worried about the game or the players.
They're worried about the safety of the fans, and safety on the roads in general.
Don't want to entice people to go out in ridiculous weather where they could die, or cause others to come out to rescue them.

If it was just the game, and no fans, yeah, why not??

Over/under opened around 40. Went down to 35.5 after forecast of snow. Now at about 37. Steelers at about between +10.5 and +9 the whole time..nothing earth shattering..

I'm just confused as to why the KC/Miami game is going on as scheduled?
Horrible conditions there too.
Is the NFL afraid of not collecting their Peacock $$$???

I understand the Buffalo decision, I don't understand the KC decision.

Cold <> 3 feet of snow.
also, no female governor sticking her nose into football business.

The Steelers cannot get a flight into Buffalo today.
The Airport is closed.
Probably a female in charge of the airport too!

Buffalo Bill was a pretty solid serial killer. If I was good with Photoshop I'd superimpose Josh Allen's face on a picture of him telling Mason, from atop a basement well, to put the lotion on his skin. But it would be Bengay instead, because that statue is going to get rocked on Monday. I don't even know what I'm talking about. I just can't stand watching Mason Rudolph play football.

Put the f-ing lotion in the basket b!tch.

If the Steelers lose this game, they need to hang a Super Bowl banner and have a parade. They can blame the ACC for it. Sue the NFL over tv rights and so on.

It's MLK day, like that is a big deal and we all have it off. I don't. But alas, I work from home and am not traveling that day. Hmmmmmm looks like with the Pens at 1, Stillers at 4:30, the phone mysteriously is not answered and no Teams meetings will be attended.

My diet is delayed by one more day.

I have worked for 30+ years in both Pittsburgh and Las Vegas and never worked for a company where I had MLK off.

Assume you’ve been retired for awhile ?

Its a national holiday
UPMC employees who aren’t mission critical to patient care are off
AHN was the same

Basically only retail employees work on MLK Day
None of my jobs were/are in retail. Other than one casino job where you work all holidays the others have been in construction and manufacturing. Maybe it’s different out here but other than people with school or government jobs I don’t know anyone that gets off for MLK day.

Banks and Financial institutions are all off because the Markets are closed.

I have never had it off either..... always worked in heavy industry.
I’ll agree with you and everyone else as well, have never had it off and don’t work in retail.

I know it has changed a good bit in the last few years but I thought workers not getting MLK day off was still more than half.
