20 Pitt wins. We have 15-20 teams behind us on the bubble and would need more than half of them to pass us. I like where we are. 1 more win and we're a lock.
Now let's focus on maximizing our seed and winning this damn conference.
LOTS of games Wednesday night.
Tonight we're going to use ELO rankings, which I feel are a greater representation of relative team strength. (Pitt is 37th in ELO rankings after tonight, by the way).
------------------------------------------
Providence (20-7, ELO 29) at UConn (20-7, ELO 31) - 6:30pm, FS1
- Both teams are ranked, and either team losing is good for Pitt. UConn is probably seeded higher than Providence at the moment, so a Providence loss is preferred. Go Huskies!
Virginia (21-4, ELO 7) at Boston College - 7:00pm, ACCNX
- if BC can pull of the upset, Pitt is back in control of its own destiny in the race for the ACC Regular Season title. Go Eagles!
Syracuse (16-11, ELO 72) at Clemson (19-8, ELO 68) - 7:00pm, ACCN
- Clemson has played themselves out of the tournament with their disastrous loss to Louisville the past weekend. But they can play themselves back in over their final four games. It starts here with Syracuse. I'd prefer our loss to Clemson move back to being a QUAD 2 loss, so I want them to win here. Go Tigers!
Minnesota at Maryland (18-9, ELO 41) - 7:00pm, BTN
- Easy decision here. Go Gophers!
Kentucky (18-9, ELO 16) at Florida - 7:00pm, ESPN
- Kentucky has played themselves into the tournament. But Pitt could still possiblity get ahead of them in seeding. Go Gators!
Wake Forest (17-10, ELO 63) at NC State (21-7, ELO 33) - 9:00pm, ACCNX
- NC State is slightly above Pitt in the rankins and seedings. Go Demon Deacons!
North Carolina (16-11, ELO 57) at Notre Dame - 9:00pm, ESPN
- Yet another must-win for UNC. They have to win out to have a chance at an at-large bid. And they are in no danger of taking a bid from Pitt. So we want them to win to help our analytics. Go Tarheels!
Iowa (17-10, ELO 49) at Wisconsin (15-11, ELO 95) - 9:00pm, BTN
- For some reason, the bracketologists still have Wisconsin on the bubble. I don't think they are. But Iowa could be. Go Badgers!
Ole Miss at Auburn (18-9, ELO 50) - 9:00pm, SECN
- Auburn is in the same seed range as Pitt. Go Rebels!
New Mexico (20-7, ELO 85) at Boise State (21-6, ELO 22) - 10:30pm, FS1
- It is crazy that Boise State seems to be doing so well in the analytics. A home loss might do some damage to that. Go Lobos!
