Is basketball different than football, where we see guys put their name in the portal only to come back to their school? I agree that Jeffress and Fede are likely better fits for different programs and in all likelihood will be gone, but it's not guaranteed that they won't be back, right?

Jeffress put out a very nice thank you letter and highlight video. He is gone. I think Fede is gone gone too.

I wouldn't say Barnes is confirmed. Capel mentioned some returning guys in The Fan interview so even if he wants Barnes back, that doesnt mean he still wont enter the portal.

Not sure if no news is good news or we need to worry until we get those IG posts saying they are coming back. I dont expect all 3 back but we need 2 of the 3. Lowe blowing up and being from Houston is a concern and Leggett only having 1 year left to make money is a concern because maybe some other program throws him a ridiculously high offer.

I thought he expected Barnes to be back though. Like confirmed that was the plan?

Ideally, we need 3 ACC-level starters there but could possibly get away with just 1 as Cummings, Austin, and GDG/Kante could start but hopefully not all 3.

High hopes for Cummings 3 pt shooting. I’d prefer Austin off bench. Same with GdG. Kante is a wild card. I know he hasn’t played before and will be a redshirt freshman. But if he can’t put up Fede like numbers (4.7 pts a game in 20 minutes), I’ll be disappointed. Even just making one basket and 3 FTs would get him there. He had 8 rebounds in game against Spain. 4 offensive and 4 defensive, but coming off injury who knows what to expect. Is Barnes a lost cause? I’d think Kante and JDG returning equal out losing Fede and Jeffress. Cummings is like a 1/3rd of Bub and Hinson. Soph Lowe and super senior ish also likely picking up more of a scoring role.

As you mentioned, Austin will be back. He was chatting it up with fans at the Alliance 412 tent with Ish and Lowe. They were the only players there indicating either they are the only 3 with A412 contracts or the others may have been out hosting the recruits.

I liked Elliot and he had some nice games but overall, he was an average ACC guard. Cummings could be better than that as a frosh but not guaranteed.

I think we are borderline Top 25 going into the season.

And BTW, we were killed for playing and losing to Missouri but the intention was that we were playing a good team. They were in Lunardi's preseason field. I hate that had we just played a lost to a better SEC team, we would have been in.

Wrong choice of words I guess. I would prefer that they stayed because they are good role players but yes, there are 300 similar players in the portal. I wasnt worrying they were leaving because I was very confident that they staying if that makes sense.

They need to get to 8 max ASAP. No wasted possessions tinkering with the lineup. Can’t start slowly like the last two years.
