Has come out and said that coach/player relationships are certainly inappropriate and that player/player relationships present significant challenges.

She’s been absolutely universally respected and adored up until this point in her career and is now taking heat for these comments. And if she’s not careful, she will have a difficult time here with our US team given the culture that was created here.

Who cares? Barcelona is the dominant women’s club in the world. They have 2 players married to each other who have an adopted child and two other players living in a same sex, interracial relationship. And no one here gives a f**k.

In fact, the only reason I know about this is that Barca TV has run a series of shows about the outside lives of players and they did one on the two married players raising their child together.

That’s not the point. Hayes stated her opinion, which was relatively tame, and it caused a huge uproar among players, among fans, and among a very vocal swill of people on line who probably don’t even know what a soccer ball is. And now she’s our coach so we shall see if our players take issue with her.

Chelsea lost the Conti Cup Final today. Hayes wasn’t happy. Not sure what set her off because I didn’t watch. But she is a pistol

I didn't see it, but apparently the guy was pulling some kind of shenanigans when Chelsea players were trying to throw balls in. He was bitching at one of their players and the fourth official at one point and got a yellow for it.

@mike412 said somewhere here that Barcelona Women are the standard bearers in the world and he’s right. But the reason for my post is just a minor rant. For at least two years running, Chelsea was up after the semifinal first leg of the champions league vs Barcelona, only to have Barcelona get exactly what they need in the 2nd leg to win on aggregate. I have no idea if Barcelona is more talented. If you read the euro sources maybe they will say that they are. But those same sources rate all their players way ahead of the USWNT players and that certainly isn’t the case. At least to the levels that they’d have you believe. My point is that I know Chelsea is loaded with talent and Emma Hayes has never got it done in the UCL. If you’re up on aggregate and coming home to Stamford bridge in front of a record crowd, close them out and get a result. They didn’t the last couple of years. So yeah I have a bit of concern for the USWNT. Chelsea lost in their version of the FA Cup a couple weeks ago and may not win the Women’s Super League which is a yearly occurrence for them. Losing Sam Kerr was a major set back this year but they are still loaded. And Cat Macario still hasn’t ascended to being a starter on that team so maybe she’s still not close to where she was…or never will be. On the flip side Mallory Swanson appears to have not missed a beat after her injury which is great. But I have concerns for Macario. She also appears to have put on some weight.
