Great article by Peter King on T.J...

Re: Great Advertisement For Pitt Developing Recruits Into NFL Players!

Many at WVU, PSU, and other College Football Programs can laugh and mock Pitt Football, but they do so with envy and a sigh when they read articles like Peter King wrote on TJ Clemmings of, by, and for the Pitt Football Program even if they lack the courage to admit it.

The Pitt Football Program has gone through many changes that caused much turmoil, Conference Changes, Coaching, Athletic Directors, Recruiting Commitments, even Chancellors, and all happen from 2005 to 2014. Yet, Pitt continues to produce Outstanding Players for the NFL and future Hall of Famers coming from places and positions no one expected to even play when they came to Pitt.

Walt Harris developed Larry Fitzgerald and others, Dave Wannstedt developed Darrelle Revis and others and Paul Chryst Aaron Donald, TJ Clemmings, with Tyler Boyd and James Conners and many others in the Pipeline to the NFL!

Now Pat Narduzzi with more to come.

One article has coined that. "Pitt Football Is The Most Underrated College Football Program Producing Outstanding Talented Players For The NFL," In The Nation, and that is more true today than those other Programs of yesterday.

"PITT FOOTBALL WHERE DEEDS THAT LEAD & PIPELINE OF THE NFL"!

A humble young man, wish him the best !

Anyone remember Gatuso on LOI day.... His size...first guy off of the bus.

Article is actually by Jenny Vrentas.....

but it's a great read for sure. Gotta love TJ, and just when he was looking like a bust of a 4 star DL, Chryst had the foresight to move him to the OL and now he'll be a NFL 1st rounder. Gotta love that. Seems like a great kid too.

Another example of how great OLs are made, not born. A guy doesn't have to be a 300 pound hulk coming out of HS--many of today's best are tall, lean-framed guys with great athletic ability. They can be bulked up and taught technique by the coaches, but the athletic ability has to be there already.

Brian Kelly and Butch Jones both used to say that when they were recruiting potential OLs, they liked to watch them play basketball. If they had good hands, feet, agility and coordination, the coaches could make them great OLs. While at Central Michigan, that's how they had two zero star guys go as OLs in the first round (and Eric Fisher was the #1 overall draft pick) between them.

Jack Conklin, Michigan State's sophomore All-American tackle, is another one of these guys. He was 6'3 235 as a HS junior but was an excellent basketball player. He grew a couple of inches and a few pounds by the time he was a senior, but he was still a zero star recruit. I have linked a good article on Conklin that discusses how MSU discovered and developed a guy who was able to go from zero D1 offers to a future NFL first rounder.
