There's chatter in other threads regarding Heather Lyke's history at Michigan and OSU and those two schools being potential future AD destinations. If hired away, could this possibly be a boon for Pitt and their chances of receiving a Big Ten invite?
Heather - I'm sure - is proud of her tenure at Pitt and the strides Pitt Athletics has taken as a whole. With the support of Pitt's Administration, she has found a way to tap into Pitt's potential as an athletic institution and capitalized on the ACC invite. I'm curious how Heather views Pitt at this point in her tenure. Stepping stone institution? Or perhaps a sleeping giant? A few more years of sustained success at our current level could really go a long way in answering that question.
The move to the ACC was the best thing to happen to Pitt and the increased $$$ really raised the floor for most of Pitt's sports programs. If Heather does get hired by OSU or Michigan in the future, could she be a proponent of the B1G extending an invite to Pitt down the line? She would be our biggest cheerleader in the room leading one of the most prominent Big 10 institutions, while still having the respect of administrators at the other most prominent Big 10 institution (you can flip-flop Michigan and OSU).
**Bonus Question: How would Big 10 $$$ further transform Pitt Athletics?
