You cant pay the players from this revenue so while the $30 million gap seems massive, how would it keep Clemson and FSU for playing for National Championships? In theory, they wouldn’t be able to pay coaches as much as Rutgers or Vanderbilt but if they have a coach they like, you would think they'd pay anything to keep him. Now if Saban retires and Bama offers Dabo $20 million/year, that's just stupid money.
Beyond coaching salaries, there really isnt anything you can do with the extra $30 million/year that equates to more wins.
- more analysts - sounds great but will they win you more games?
- locker room and football complex upgrades - will renovated complexes = better recruits and more wins
- fan experience upgrades at stadiums including renovations - does this win you more games
- crazy ancillary stuff like recording studios, private waterparks, etc - is this going to make a kid go to LSU instead of Clemson?
I know that $30 million/year sounds like a lot and it is but this isnt pro sports. You cant pay the players. These ACC schools sound like effing babies. You signed a deal so live up to it or pay up. You have enough money to win. When Vandy hires away Dabo, then we'll talk.
