Intersting info on possible OC Mike Yurcich

Coordinators can either highlight a person's strength or make their weaknesses more glaring. Canada made Nathan Peterman look like top round QB. Whipple coached Pickett into a first rounder.....coaching matters as much or at times more than talent.

Yes..

But -

The OC can only highlight a guy's strength if it doesn't take the band aid off of other position weaknesses.

For instance, a QB might have a great arm and he might have great deep ball receivers. However, if his OL can't protect consistently for 5-7 step drops, it's really tough to highlight those strengths of the QB.

Case in point - Joe Flacco was known as a great deep ball passer. However, he often struggled against the Steelers because his OL could not sustain blocks for 5 and 7 step drops. This usually put them behind the chains and got them off schedule. Flacco wasn't known as a great pinpoint quick game type QB like Brady was. For a great majority of his career vs the Steelers it was try and throw it deep vs favorable coverage and risk getting hit/sacked or check it down to Ray Rice.

The OC has to constantly manage these variables that many fans overlook. It's way harder on defense to hide your warts.
