Safe to say as big as Tuesday was, this game will truly be the make or break for Pitt. Finding a way to win on the road is always hard and Pitt needs to come out with similar intensity today as a loss assures any faint chance of a bid is gone. Win today and come home and let the fans will them to wins in their final 2.
Keys to the game:
1.) Blake Hinson - there is no more important game for Blake to show up than today. He was nonexistent on Tuesday when Pitt needed him most. You can say Capel needed to scheme up more offensive sets, but it’s inexcusable for your senior leader to not attempt a shot in the last 13 minutes of the game. If Pitt wins today, they absolutely need 20+ from Blake.
2.) Fede / GDG improvement - look these two are what they are and in todays matchup with Quinten Post they’re going to have a brutal time doing much with him. The key is they absolutely have to be so much better finishing at the rim than they were Tuesday. Pitt never asks for them to lead them in scoring, but if they’re as bad as they were Tuesday, Pitt will not win.
3.) Offensive Rebounding - BC is one of the worst rebounding teams in the ACC. Pitt’s guards ability to rebound misses will be critical. They need to continue to crash the glass and get second opportunities. Leggett and Carrington have done a great job all year and they need continued success to win today.
Prediction: Pitt 74-70. I think today’s game will be insanely tight all game as Vegas has predicted. I’m going to say this one is tied with under 5 min to go and we get a couple of huge shots from Hinson down the stretch to pull it out.
